If we appear tall, it is because we stand on the shoulders of giants.

Jalopnik hasn’t been better than this in a long, long time.

While he may be a little rose-colored, Spielberg does a lot of things very well and being great with characters is right up there. The original Bullitt really lacked in that department and . . . really, everything but a chase scene that is great if viewed in context, though long since surpassed. I don’t see this as

Not guilty because the vessel was not sunk by his actions. It was sunk by the weight of his pair.

This is bad hot take about a movie that people today don’t seem to understand. It is not meant to be an action movie, it is meant to be a slow burn. The music by Lalo Schiffrin is sublime, the the GT390 Mustang and 440 Charger provided the best music of the entire film.

Dafuq? Bullitt is slow, yes, and maybe plagued with a bit too much Jazz Flute, but its deliberately slow. Lots of movies were back then. Because exposition was a thing. Its cool if you’re used to Michael Bay shit and don’t know how to watch a movie thats not going a million miles and hour all the time, but

I got the opportunity to experience one at a dealer a few months ago. It was a fairly optioned out AWD 2.0T, so I can’t really comment on the hybrid one. The interior was very well executed cheap-and-cheerful. More like “this is inexpensive and we’re not hiding it,” so it lacks a lot of the things that make cheap cars

This one, still covered in its shipping protection. It came off the truck on Saturday morning and will be in my driveway by Wednesday evening. Ordered Dec 30.

Maverick.”

God I hope it weighs 3 tons and you have to bitch about it like you do all other EVs.

I have predictable answers.

Nothing: Three-five years from now, things are going to severely change, new batteries, cheaper electrics, maybe solid state stuff. And maybe the market will be back to normal. That’s what I’m anticipating.

The next Mazda6 has my attention. It is supposed to be RWD and offer an inline-6, possibly with a 48V hybrid option. The way Mazda has been absolutely killing it with styling has me really excited.  I hope they make it a liftback, too.

Burning fossil fuels in brand new cars is dead/dying. New cars are boring anyway. Combustion engine + excitement -> classic car, or at least something that has already been built.

Maverick.

Mercedes is a pretty good writer.

I realize this may sound like sacrilege… but are we certain the next gen Mustang will have a V8? And even if it does, will the V8 be the “performance” option? With the way Ford has been moving, I wouldn’t put it past them to use a version of the V6 EcoBoost.

These aren’t asking prices, these are what actual buyers paid for them.

Except it isn’t a restoration whatsoever. I respect the work involved in the vehicle, but it is a replica or homage, not a restoration or classic car.
