My dad bough a G29 recently and I tried for a bit on my PS4. The shifter felt like this video, after a while I stopped use it. But somehow I still prefer the Dualshock controller, maybe I need more time to get used to the wheel

The lap time thing can depend on the sim and the car. iRacing penalizes (inserts intentional delay) with the use of flappy paddles in some cases, notably the MX-5. iRacers have tested and shown that an H-shifter with unassisted clutch is fastest for that car.

Yeah, the H-box is cheap feeling, but that does not detract from the fun at all, IMHO. If anything, the dantiness with which you should use it makes it pretty cool. I actually learned to drive a stick playing Race Drivin’ in the arcades back in the early 90s. I’m sure I’ll have fifty people in here in a minute throwing shade, but when I actually wound up in a stick-shift car a year later it only took about half an hour before I was perfectly comfortable with it.

This is the exact feeling I had as I read the article. I’m a vet myself and have a lot of negative feelings about my service in Afghanistan, especially when my Air Medal citations all list the associated EKIA. It’s icky.  I almost wish they hadn’t mentioned his Dominican Republic service.
