Money won’t bring the dead back but I hope the victim’s family gets everything they can in a civil suit.

I mean, it was a Lincoln MKZ soooooooooo.

Came here to say this. That might possibly be the dumbest reason I can think of to get rid of a car you “Loved”  and now own and have no trouble with. “I’ll teach those people at Carvana! I’ll sell my car after they already took my money and don’t give a shit anymore!”

Markets are always manipulated. Pure supply and demand rules are the exception. The rule is manipulation and collusion and price fixing as often as it can be done, by hook or by crook.

The initial shock was probably real. But right after that, the suppliers figured out that they could ‘choke’ the market, and from there on it probably was manufactured.

Part of me thinks these supply disruptions are “manufactured” to increase pricing and all the disruptions will be alleviated once consumers are happy to pay that price increase indefinitely.  Basically frog in a pot thing.

The problem is that economics drives the boat, as it were. If the US decided to entirely cut imports from China by building all local supplies, then competitors in other countries would undercut US prices by continuing to buy from China. To succeed all one needs is a planet-wide embargo of all trade with China. And

But profits. Sure, I mean, it’s bad for the global economy and whatever, but what about next quarter? THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

Indeed. If anything, it shows how toxic and powerful corporatism has become, with the vast wealth they have accumulated that they can continuously get away with breaking the law and get a slap on the wrist, and lay off hundreds of workers at once and get a big raise for yourself and your executive buddies.

it is a real thing https://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights

It is so ridiculous how people really believe the disinformation that unions=undemocratic/socialist/communist. My grandparents here in Canada still buy that idea. Collective bargaining to defend worker’s rights is the definition of democracy. It’s not socialist, or then the workers would have more control over

So much anit-union crap and so much “why are they striking? i wish i had it that good” is just sour grapes. The right to belong in a union is in Article 23(4) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and it states ‘Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.’ Want

Deere is getting hammered by its employees AND hammered by its customers over Right to Repair.

I was a Teamster for 34 years working for that company with all the brown trucks. Never once did I cross a picket line.

Unions built this country when it built stuff. AND unions will save this country from the shitty “gig economy” BS that’s destroyed the service sector currently. Our economy has matured but there is ZERO reason service sector employees can’t be paid a living wage.

a welder is just a metal hot glue gun, how hard can it be? I learned that shit in 3rd grade. /s

Million got no raises. For years.

Yep. Solidairty.

the company was also going to eliminate pensions for everybody hired after November 1, 2021. Also, there’s a huge gap between workers hired before 1997 and those hired afterwards - the workers wanted to close that gap.

The company sucks, but good on the workers.
