Interesting. I haven’t seen any Adam Sandler movies since 50 First Dates (don’t @ me, it was a slow cable night), but the vibe and chemistry between Sandler and Rock in the commercials made me think they were long-time buds whose kids were marrying each other. Not that the actual set-up sounds bad, mind you - I’m just

I confess, having lived very near Florence & Normandie (where Reginald Denny was pulled out of his truck and beaten), I’m interested in seeing this just to see what details they get right. The randomness of phone service. Having electricity out for days and figuring out who had coolers and freezers with room to share.

I know I’m coming in late, but I’d argue that few of the rom-coms Katherine Hepburn were in (if you’d call them rom-coms, but they were at least prototypical of rom-coms) had that ‘hate on first sight turns to love’ trope.

I still consider his character (and portrayal) in Superman Returns to the saving grace of the movie.

One could argue that Overboard is an 80s era update of Taming of the Shrew, with some contemporaneous themes regarding class war thrown in. But the premise was enough to cause me to steer clear (and I missed 90s era cable TV, so I didn’t even know the movie was in rotation). Then again, I’m the rare screwball comedy

I want a fig and prosciutto pizza! Where can I find one?

Three things:

Exactly! I was in college, going to movies every other weekend and living in L.A.!! How did this movie pass me by?

I don’t know, really. It would be easier to pin Pierce’s murder on Lucifer (lots of opportunity, lots of motive, Pierce is willing to cooperate & can assist with the planting of evidence), but no, it wouldn’t be impossible to frame Lucifer for someone else’s murder.

I definitely realize that Mon-El’s costume is 1) an inverse of Supergirl’s and 2) similar to Superman’s, but it still reminded me a lot of The Samitarian, from Astro City, who happens to be that ‘verse’s Superman analog:

I think Maze killing someone randomly, especially someone who wouldn’t end up in hell, would be crossing a hard line for the character.

I saw the movie on a British Airways flight and they did not cut a single second from that scene. I was literally shaking.

Doesn’t sound a thing like the Temptations to me, but then again, I’m not an expert on the Temptations. I never thought it was a lost-long song because, as you mention, too synthy. The tempo doesn’t match typical Motown (or pre-Motown, given the setting of the movie). I dunno.

I actually like mash-ups quite a bit. Not every one, and not even every DJ, but there’s lots of fun material out there. My issue is where to find the good new stuff. Except for the Bootie website, it seems like a lot of sites either went down (Mashuptown) or got so riddled with malware (AudioPornCentral) that for the

One of my favourites ...

Is it wrong to want a head-to-head match-up between Streets of Fire and Absolute Beginners?

I can finally reveal the truth - we knew. We always knew. Just like we knew Michael MacDonald was a white guy, sight unseen. But because black people can respect white-boy soul, we play along ... “That dude is white!?? Dang!”

You are far too credulous over the box of Franzia. Fifty Shades Freed just came out 2 months ago, and I can’t imagine a better accompaniment than a box of wine and a group of friends to point and laugh.

I like your AU and I wish to subscribe to its fanfic forum.
