We’re not too far apart at all to be incompatible or incomparable. Asian-Americans are a great example of how both value systems can be combined into quantifiable success in academia and the workplace. They are a minority group that would be the last anyone could honestly describe as a failure.

Many with an East Asian education and cultural attitudes towards studying immigrate to the US and wind up becoming a part of the most successful minority demographic the country has ever seen. They are doing something right to leverage that type of approach and turn it into extreme success in the US, within a single

While there are certainly issues, I think we still have a lot to learn from East Asian education systems, particularly in cultural attitudes towards studying/methods of study.

Absolutely not. I feel the backlash against standardized tests is an argument against rote learning. Rote learning and memorization are becoming pejoratives, despite them being powerful foundational skills, particularly when paired with other learning methods and creative ways of thinking/associating. I don’t think

Interesting to call it a salsa verde. Italian influence deeply impacted Argentinian cuisine and this seems more like a mix of a chimichurri and tapenade. I usually turn to bagna cauda as my go-to sandwich booster, but this sounds really delicious, especially with the medium boiled egg! I will definitely be trying

A pathological liar with narcissistic personality disorder. Something tells me this isn’t new to people in Hollywood, or vying to be a part of it.

Nope. I feel there is a certain conceit and entitlement in the mechanic of being able to rewind and change outcomes. Actions have consequences in real life; letting those actions play out, reconciling them, and then dealing with them in a positive way, always moving forward, is the adult way to process in the real

That’s true. Some people inherently lack the motivation to recognize and/or take action on opportunities, which can contribute to stagnation and a cycle of depressed wages/debt.

Why does Utah never look good? They have high job availability, low cost of living, clean air, and highly rated school districts.

That’s a really good metric. A lot of people are very wary of complete relocations and career changes, wanting to stay with what they are familiar with, but when the data is showing such a positive improvement in opportunities for children, I’m surprised that more don’t try taking the plunge.

A good portion of it, I’d guess. But hey, opportunity is opportunity. While oil/gas is booming, families moving there to take on jobs will have the opportunity for upward mobility and be able to afford higher education for their children. Outside of the Dakotas, Utah is looking good.

Merchandiser initiated trend.

That’s a fantastic point.

Some of the world’s most effective tyrants had personal qualities that would be universally considered praiseworthy outside of the greater context of what their actions culminated in. Really refreshing take. I’d really love to see a documentary that solely focuses on Hubbard’s cult of personality, in the context of an

Good. A tax break for the 1% of the population that actually has celiac disease.

A child bride? I... don’t know how to parse this.

You could technically and legally lose your refund for anything that’s past due. If someone has consumer debt that isn’t paid off, a creditor can file a 10-99c with the IRS and report it as unearned income, which then becomes accountable to them. The IRS has virtually unlimited powers to collect, garnish, and levy, so

My cousins did one of the escape rooms and had nothing but great things to say about it

lol truth. You’re not in LA anymore?

I’d totally go, but getting downtown by 6:30-7:00 is a bit of a challenge for me :(. You should do something on the westside sometime, like Culver City, Venice, or Santa Monica!
