Are you me? I am pretty sure I’ve gone on the almost exact same rant.

Honestly, if you look at it, the leagues are starting to divide. NFL is ‘right’ and NBA is ‘left’. Thanks to the Chargers leaving (Fuck you Spanos) I can now devote all my attention to the NBA.
Charger fans were split over the Gordon pick, where did you fall on this? I personally hated Telesco’s inability to keep mid-round draft picks, and really didn’t like the trade up for Gordon. In fact, I threw things and was very very unhappy. Still don’t like the idea of spending a first round pick on a RB in a league…
Because it is quick. Drop in, grab a sandwich and back at my desk in like 10 min total. As far as taste, whatever, have them throw peppers on it and it isn’t bad. I’m no advocate for them or anything, just saying there is a time and place for Jimmy Johns.
Charger fans were less ‘our team sucks in ways other shitty franchises suck’ and ‘our (former) team sucks, and then left... so fuck Spanos’.
Theoretically, they’re supposed to play the toughest record in the division every year, playing the other division winners and all that.
I always picked up Peak when playing franchise mode in Madden, he was one of the faster dudes on the FA list. Other than that, don’t know any of the other guys, other than Lucky Whitehead. And that is only because he has an unfortunate offseason tale and a somewhat memorable name.
This, and Cleveland has also hit on a strategy I don’t think people are giving them enough credit for.
Does nobody remember the Leaf era Chargers? We can’t talk about worst evers without at least throwing those teams a bone.
My poor, misguided son decided to be a Lions fan and Bengals fan. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn’t listen. We have no ties to Cinci, so he may just drop them. One can only hope, seeing as how a person can only take so much disappointment.
Be cheaper now, that is for certain. I only had Direct TV so I could watch Charger games (before that I spent way too much at bars that had the games on).
It isn’t even like I’m ‘pro’ or ‘anti’ anything, I just don’t get people that have all this energy to hate things that have no bearing on their lives.
If Cam was the QB of the team I rooted for, I’d have no issues with him (not that I want to replace Rivers). I think all the shit with Cam gets overblown, and as far playing ability goes, he either gets too much hype or gets too much blame, nothing seems to be in the right amount when it comes to him.
Gettleman did some good things, and saved that team from the salary cap hell he inherited. But some of the things I’m hearing remind me of AJ Smith, former Charger GM. AJ had a good run and had a couple amazing drafts, but his inability to deal with vets he drafted had a big hand in the team falling apart.
It is because of all the shit in college. At least in South Carolina (where I live, and theoretically representing about 30-40% of the Panther fans) people are still on his shit about the college stuff. Lot of SEC people here in SC, even though the NC/SC region as a whole is more ACC.
Your story was better, way to one up me.
He didn’t flop against NE. In the div playoffs of ‘06 Cam and Marty decided to not use him in the second half. Because they fucking hate me and every other fucking Charger fan. LT had 9 touches in the second half of that game.
Kaeding’s miss in ‘04 was more understandable, but still a fucking choke job by him.
I’m a bit too young for the Air Coryell days, and spent most of my years before I was 10 overseas (dad was Air Force), so I missed out on that era. We’d get sent VHS tapes of recorded Charger games that I’d watch a month after the fact. We lived out in the German country side so I didn’t get AFN, so I only saw about 5…
Honestly, this is fascinating. Spanos took his team, which was already in the bottom half of the league in popularity, and made them inconsequential.
