Taylor Kitsch plays military types like, all the time. Even in The Normal Heart he was an ex-Green Beret. In Battleship he was military, in John Carter he was a soldier, in Savages he was either a SEAL or a Ranger I forget.

That's the point. Old truck is easier to lose if you are going to lose it than a brand new $70k luxo-hauler.
Also true to a degree. I imagine this will be deployed with an LHA nearby most of the time, and those "mini-carriers" can still pack quite a walop (if they follow Tyler's suggestions, that is). But the point stands: a carrier with dozens of aircraft, another dozen combat craft and tons of landing craft? Threatening.
They also get a hell of a lot more streams off Spotify than they do ears to the radio. The majority of Spotify's profits go to artists.
They do off Spotify too. The majority of Spotify's profits go to paying artists.
Sure, and we have every right to bitch about it. Fact is she is perpetuating the same myth Lars Ulrich did. Did you defend Lars as well?
And not just work for free, but let someone else make money off their work.
Spotify does pay royalties though. The overwhelming majority of its expenses are royalties, in fact. When the artist gets the lions share of the profit, and they want more than that?
I don't buy her argument for why she took her music off Spotify. It is essentially the same argument that Lars from Metallica made during the Napster trials in the 90s. She still takes home bank from tours, promotional work, sponsorships, etc.
I buy mens big and tall: they are DEFINITELY more expensive than standard mens jeans. But only once you get over size 44 (some stores 42).
YOU DO?!
I'm with you. Why die on the moon when I could die in bed, by a fire, eating cookies? Possibly this bed is overlooking a lake, and my friends and family are nearby.
Exactly.
I think the problem is the master can still rebuild his house with said tools.
Agreed. Bringing in people with well researched facts over just letting a run-of-the-mill blogger (which as much as I like the Jezebel authors, that is what they are) is awesome.
This. So much of the past is like a knee-jerk reactionary-ism on a topic. I'm not saying everything needs to be 'splain'd every time: but topics like this, especially concerning a historical figure, need to explained. I bet even many Jez authors, past and present, thought Baartman was a slave. But knowing more about…
I will grant you that pizza rolls are good. But they aren't pizza bagels.
This ship will never be deployed somewhere with active anti-ship missiles. Think more like off the coast of Somalia, or off a Asian-Pacific island that doesn't have a Navy. Or think disaster relief efforts or if we had to deploy Marines into an African nation right quick.
The Tarawa and Wasp ships are getting really long in the tooth though, they are at the end of their service lives. This ship costs less to build than a new warship, and has MUCH greater carrying capacity compared to the the old LHD ships. Look at the picture above: its LEAGUES bigger.
