I happened to be accidentally watching this while working out last night and it drove me nuts. It got really victim blamey and all “why don’t women speak up in the moment?!?!” And shame on all the other guests for taking part in the discussion and not one of them pointing out that “hey, nobody is saying that what

Construction noise if no joke for pets though. I live half a block away from a new apartment building going up and they are driving the pylons right now and it’s horrible. And I’m 6 floors up and facing away from the construction. The entire building vibrates and my cat is visibly like “what the fuck?” shaken out of a

I never understood saying “don’t talk about that” to abuse victims. Even if you weren’t also abused, the other person has a right to speak about it. I always appreciated the Judd’s take on it when Ashley Judd came out about her abuse (I forget against who.) They basically said “that didn’t happen to us but we

That’s so funny because fishers TOTALLY guard the good lakes and where they got the great catch.  I see facebook posts all the time with the big fish they caught and it’s always in the comments “hey guy, great catch, what lake?” and the guys are like “oh hell no, it’s a secret. I’m somewhere in Minnesota, I tell you

Right? And a “poor decision” is something you do once, like “oh, I really shouldn’t have had that much to drink last night” or “I really shouldn’t have slept with that weird guy.”  If you are repeatedly choosing to do something for two years, that’s kinda just who you are as a person.

“Many women want the opportunity to visit a professional, comprehensive health care facility—not an abortion clinic—for their health care needs; today, HHS gave women that choice.”

And the cold-shoulder cut outs, don’t forget those!

That was my thought. Has there ever been research done on the role/reaction of media to changing laws and culture in the past? Like, when did the NYT stop reporting with shock about people being arrested for miscegenation or when did the Boston Globe (or whatever) stop referring to the suffragette’s as “uppity little

Take your fucking star.

Thanks! I feel kinda pushy for posting them here but I figured some of y’all might be interested.

Same.

I would just send an email with the apology and specifics about what you know you did wrong and why. That way, there’s no forced interaction or awkward forgiveness necessary on her part.  Asking her to decide whether or not to get together puts a huge onus on her that she may not want.

If you’re wondering what to watch this weekend (shameless plug):

Yep. Does the bible pass the Bechdel test? I don’t think it does.

If only there was some way for her to learn proper grammar and how to use it to apply for patents and run her business and stuff. I wish some school existed that had . . . like, English and writing and business classes or something.

Yes, let’s be more concerned about what young women are wearing to mass than glad that young women are going to mass at all. Cuz, I’m certainly not going to mass anymore, wearing leggings or otherwise.

Per miles driven isn’t the point. You don’t pay for your insurance based purely on how many miles you drive. Men drive more, therefore they get in more accidents, therefore their insurance should be higher.

It’s a fabulous book. Not at all surprised:

It’s been said that seeing people’s hands makes them more trustworthy and approachable.  It’s psychological.

But you’re assuming that the insurance company cares, in the end, how many miles you drive per year when faced with the fact that they now have to pay out $100,000 because you got in an accident.
