No, Tesla was at fault for thinking cameras and not a LIDAR were acceptable for autonomous driving.

What part of user beta testing has any place what so ever on a piece of real equipment? This isn’t some new iPhone app, it’s a damn car.
What about just making it so it can only even be turned on when on a Controlled Access Highway? Like it should have from day 1.
And training, and operator expectations, and naming it a fucking AUTOPILOT.
Porsche Panamera: the complete opposite of why people used to buy Porsches.
Better autopilot. And more importantly better certification. It can do this stuff to a degree of effectiveness, but to be ALLOWED to do it has taken a while for the FAA and ICAO to sort out.
They haven’t done anything new to the ILS in forever.
CWS doesn’t work like that. CWS is what you use to hand fly without disabling the Autopilot and then having it maintain the attitude you put the plane into.
No it does not. Autopilot on a plane just means the pilot can have his hands and eyes freer to monitor systems, set radios, and maintain situational awareness.
Yes but we are trained in the use and limitations. Tesla has done none of that for their tech-bro test driver force out there.
Autopilots generally just reduce the number of inputs a pilot makes to the plane, they’re not there for the pilot to space out and ignore everything.
Yea they really do need to eliminate the RV loophole from the CDL.
Insufficient testing protocols, Insufficient training, and incomplete autonomous systems.
Because Tesla is using the idiot public as their test drivers but convincing them they have a fancy new feature.
No, you’re confusing “someone might buy one” with “collectable”, a first gen Lightening is collectable, lots of people wish to own one, more than there are examples out there to own.
And if you can’t understand the difference between an SVT Contour and a Lightning. Well, I mean...I dono.
My “second hand anecdotal” mostly involved me under said contour swearing at something.
It may be interesting for 1 - 5 people and or museums of Ford Minutiae, but that’s not “Collectable” anymore than anything else. Unless somebody brings it up EVERYONE forgets about the Ford Tempo’s Also-ran successor. And for that matter the Tempo, remember those? no you don’t because they were the background.
Agreed, I’m still barely sold on DRL effectiveness in the first place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffused_…
But, the illuminated during the day instruments just makes it impossible for the careless to not fuck up. Idiot proofing is an important Safety factor.
Well one downside is you have to go order a special german wrench to turn in order to do anything important.
Really? Because the late 90's called, and they said you should take off those Oversized Jeans and turn down the Blink 182.
Secondhand Anecdotal evidence, the best kind of “Facts”
