It has stagnated because this is a transition point. Guys like Beckerman and Demspey are still quality and playing but likely won’t be on the next WC squad. You have a lot of new guys getting in the lineup but haven’t had a chance to gel with everyone else. It’s a tale of 2 generations right now. That will shake out…

Don’t discount the dificulty in getting up for a game against a historically weak team after you have just beaten an even weaker team 6-0. The stadiums have been empty, I was at the Cuba game and there was no energy or feeling of importance to the game....This one felt only slightly more important.

While that attitude is still present I think the divide comes between those who watch Premier league and other European leagues and ardent MLS fans. In my opinion there isn’t a huge middle that loves both Europe and MLS.
