FWIW, US agencies allowed employees to use iPhones and iPads in 2011 and 45 initially used an Android phone until switching to an iPhone in 2017. The thing that was secure about BlackBerries was BBM, which offered end-to-end encryption… which iMessage also offers.

Corporations are incredibly self-interested so they can care a lot about you, if you have a hard-to-find skill and are in a labour shortage.

Do you know how hard it is to find a used N64 controller that doen’t have a wobbly thumbstick? IMHO, the GameCube controllers were the most solid things Nintendo ever built.

Maybe loving a for-profit corporate conglomerate is part of the problem?

Hey—I did not say that beer should never be served ice cold, I just reiterated the rationale is behind the suggestion.

Whataboutism is a trap. You don’t solve one person’s problems by comparing them to someone else’s.

Move to Ontario! We’ve got gruit ales in the LCBO. ;)

Thank you for the correction! Apple named the file format for their implementation of HEIF “HEIC,” and I must have conflated the two.

It doesn’t freeze the beer, but the aroma (and flavour) of hops gets dulled when beer is served below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. It doesn’t destroy anything, but you miss out on the flavour.

I won’t tell you that you’re enjoying beer wrong, but if you don’t have a taste for bitter beers then you might enjoy gruit ales, which don’t contain hops.

1. The things we’ve decided to call “video games” are an absurdly broad medium. They include anything interactive and fictional that runs on some kind of computer, from recreations of board games to Pac-Man to Half Life 2. It’s be like calling board games, books and cerial boxes “readies” because there’s text on them.

I remember from my days writing about Jailbreak Software that Apple’s authentication server won’t sign old versions of iOS. If they remove a vulnerability, it would prevent you from downgrading your phone to bring it back.

I don’t think Apple deliberately sabotages old phones, but they *really should* test the updates on older models. The silver lining is Apple is one of the handful of phone manufacturers that actually releases updates 3 years down the line.

You’re encouraging readers to ignore security updates?

HEIF stands for High Efficency File Format because that’s what Apple named it.

You can store beer in a cold fridge just fine, but you won’t taste the bitters when it’s served cold. It doesn’t “destroy” anything, but you won’t taste it when it’s cold

There are tons of foods that are constantly marketed as healthy for us that... aren’t. If someone’s trying to cut out soda, it might be useful to know that water is a better (and cheaper) alternative than fruit juice or milk.

Forgive me, but that reads like a knee jerk comment from someone who doesn’t have a personal relationship with Judaism.

Nope. “Allopathic” is a scare word that homeopathy and hollistic medicine practitioners use when describing science-based medicine. You can google it.

Yes. Their names are Fiore and deBlanc.
