I read in a lot of reviews that people were getting stuck, but that never happened to me. I was pretty good about using the game’s map markers to note places where it looked like I’d need a new ability to get through.

Counterpoint: It’s pretty close to perfect. I loved every minute.

Important: this does NOT have an updated processor. It has an updated processor UNIT. It does HDR pass-through and has a new connector, but it doesn’t have any additional processing power, so those of us early adopters aren’t screwed here. We’re just losing out on some (admittedly nice) conveniences.

I went to my local Gamestop at 7:30, 2.5 hours before opening. People who got there right before open got one. They had 18, compared to the 6 on the NES Classic launch.

That’s good that Sumo listened. When this first happened, they were very clear on social media that this change was permanent.

If you get a chance tonight, let me recommend two games: Sequence and Groov. Sequence (known on PC as Before the Echo) is a rhythm RPG with fantastic writing and voice acting. It was made by one guy, Jason Wishnov, who does the voice of Byakuya in Danganronpa (among a bunch of other things). One of my favorite 360

They teased the first Ultra Despair Girls through an in-game poster, right?

But those images are 3D renderings. It would take a tremendous amount of time and money. If the projects were backed up somewhere, it would be pretty easy (they’d just have to open and rerender), but... I’m guessing they weren’t.

Mine too. It’s like they left the speed as it was for Japanese text, which needs less characters than English text.

+1 for Kamiko. It’s like $5, lots of fun.

If nothing else, thanks for reminding me how much I enjoyed Ganon’s killshot. BOTW is the better game, but I love TP’s dark style.

Interesting. They usually do these early in the morning (US time), so they can be at similar times worldwide. I guess this one is NA specific?

Real easy recommendation to anyone who doesn’t violently hate 2D platformers.

I wonder why the VR version isn’t hitting PS4, especially with the main game going there.

Another game tried mixing rhythm with RPG, with (IMO) great success, called Before the Echo (formerly Sequence). The game was made by professional voice actor Jason Wishnov (the voice of Byakuya from Danganronpa), and as it turns out, he’s a hell of a writer.

When you play RE7 in VR, the default controls don’t have your head spinning freely; you snap 45 degrees left or right by pressing the right stick left or right. Pressing the stick up centers the camera where you’re looking. It’s really pleasant. And believe be, you wouldn’t be bored.

Jason, you’re playing RE7 in VR, right? You only get one first time through the game, and it’s incredible in VR. Lots of reviewers played it on the TV first, then had a little blurb saying, “I later tried it in VR; it was all right.” But if you’re IN that world, with NO idea what’s on the other side of that door...

If this sounds cool to anyone, I recommend a free game from Christine Love called Digital: A Love Story. It’s short and effective.

Thank you, Heather. Now, the narrative is, “Luke is wrong about this one,” rather than, “Kotaku is wrong about this one.” Which is more accurate.
