Ah crap! I forgot the comics are cannon.

Sure the new films could and should be about Luke’s New Order ditching a lot of the tenets that brought the old Order low...but he should be front and centre with his Sister (who should also be a fucking Jedi) and his best Friend at the core of the New Republic and when this new threat comes to town he and his Jedi

Eh, I have great respect for Mark Hamill, but as a fan I don’t feel the series should feel at all beholden to his conception of the character. He reportedly was an advocate for Luke turning evil, seemingly as much as anything because he thought it would be fun to play. I’m not saying that would have been the worst

I continue to subscribe to the probably stupid (but not entirely baseless?) theory that Sony is announcing terrible Spider-verse movies in order to entice Disney to buy their film division, which they’d reportedly like to sell, and bring Spider-Man fully into the Marvel Studios fold.

thanks!

haha yes someone mentioned the meme to me. I always assumed other people were going through what I was, but I’m staggered by how many people can relate to this. It’s tragic. Very sorry to hear about your siblings. I hope they eventually are able to see through Ailes’ bullshit.

Glad to hear it, and thanks.

It’s a real and scary thing. My grandfather was a gun collector, including some antiques and unusual ones he used to love to show off, pre-Fox. In his later years, as the paranoia set in, he’d only take them out with the blinds clothed (in case Obama’s government was watching somehow, I guess) and always seemed to be

Thanks. I eventually learned how to nod and “that’s interesting” through the rants (pushing back gently when I couldn’t resist) and get on to other topics. It never broke my relationship with them, thankfully. But plenty of people aren’t so lucky, which is really tragic.

The shows are bad enough, and then half the ads (at least when I used to watch with my family) are for gold, survivalist gear, doomsday shelters, etc. It’s an entire media ecosystem built on fostering and harvesting paranoia.

Unbiased? No, MSNBC has a clear left-leaning perspective and I’d never argue to the contrary. Fact-based? Yes, I’d argue that’s pretty clearly the case, but it also misses my point. My issue with Fox News is not that it is right-leaning, it’s the manner in which its stories are presented. The network’s worldview is

The damage caused by Roger Ailes is truly breathtaking in its impact and scope. Professionally, he was a proto-Rove Richard Nixon accomplice and enabler who went on to found the most powerful and pervasive propaganda network in modern history, which was profoundly responsible for training millions to disregard

Ohhhhhh so you’re a troll. Ok. Thanks!

Pink Alien Guy: “My people were biologically determined for one purpose alone, to sense the coming of death.”

It’s not! Here’s a link; hopefully they won’t change it, but it’s been up like that for most of the afternoon by now.

She campaigned plenty, people are just really fucking stupid.

Maz also is a better name than Kylo.

I didn’t hate Luke Cage - I mostly really liked it - but I do agree with those who argue that 1) like most of the Netflix Marvel shows, it was an eight-episode story stretched to 13 episodes, causing it to sag a lot in the middle and 2) once Mahershala Ali departed, it became much less interesting, in part because 3)

Sorry for injecting partisanship into a debate about politics, I guess, dipshit.
