Fox’s efforts to fuck up the internal continuity of this series are, frankly, almost ambitious. I’m not even mad, it’s hilarious.

This is a tough one to fix. The continuity is a mess; several members of the cast are either becoming too famous for this shit, seem genuinely sick of it, or both; and their spin-off attempts so far have been very uneven, though Deadpool was great and Logan seems promising.
The uncanny valley is a fascinating thing. I’ve seen Rogue One twice, and the Cushing CGI didn’t irk me - if I hadn’t known going in that he was dead, I doubt I would have noticed he was computer generated at all. But with Leia, I had the full-on creep-out I see people complaining of for Tarkin.
In fairness to the Sentinel, they did allow the publication of a detailed rebuttal.
So, the crazy thing is, the David Whitley column you quoted might not even be his worst one this year. Allow me to nominate a true doozy entitled, shit you not, Let’s put a Kap on sports protests, which our humble columnist may as well have titled “Don’t take a knee on my white privilege.”
You seem to be complaining about fanservice, not fanfiction.
This seems like a silly point. Even if film took 20 years to become a storytelling medium, that would place that evolution in what, 1910? I’m sorry, time traveler, but film is a storytelling medium and has been for generations.
I presume the effects don’t go unappreciated within the industry, though, so at least those blameless effects designers won’t go without work. As a member of the movie-going audience, I don’t see it as my job to dissect the bad movies I see for their good elements; I already paid for this crap, that’s enough.
How much does this guy have to be suspended and how many times does he have to apologise before people stop piling on the kid?
While I loved Rogue One, there are some criticisms of it that I absolutely understand or even agree with. The lead characters are under-developed. The first two acts are unevenly paced. What the hell exactly was Forrest Whitaker doing? Etc. All fair, all fine, I get these.
Fair. I truly resent WB for bungling the DC films so badly that I’m filled with dread rather than joy at the prospect of the first major female-led superhero movie. Such is the stain of the Snyderverse.
I’ve seen probably every comic book hero movie ever made, but I think I’m done with the DCCU. I just can’t imagine paying money to see Justice League after having experienced BvS or Gotham City Sirens after having suffered through Suicide Squad. I’ll probably pay to watch Wonder Woman, if only on VOD, though I’ll be…
I’m not sure how common this is (though I see there’s already another comment to similar effect) but I’m a Jets fan who is totally OK with the Giants winning. I’m not a fan of the Giants, but I also don’t consider them a rival.
I don’t know that you, me, Evan or the Layn are very far apart on this, because I think both of these things can be true: 1. The games flubbed the resolution to the present-day plotline (on this I think we all agree) and 2. The present-day plotline was never necessary, per se, but could have been executed well enough…
I feel the exact opposite: They should have cut the present-day plotline entirely.
... two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye...
I’m against public funding of stadiums as much as anyone, but until that’s not the game the leagues all play, it’s absurd to blame one owner for doing the same thing everyone else would do.
I’m too lazy to dig through his garbage, so yeah I’m gonna go ahead and rely on his public behavior.
In this instance, I don’t think the dead ball/game action distinction matters.
Right? What a jerk.
