Shown, but not rationally explained whatsoever. She was a host fresh out of Westworld with little knowledge of the outside world. H said rich guy was watching this report very shortly after the collapse - not years a later. What was the magic thing in the sky helping her accomplish all this? There was nothing except a…
To me the linear timeline since Westworld’s collapse was totally off to the point of distraction. It opened with the guy reading about what appeared to be the ongoing investigation in to what was a relatively recent collapse of the park. So how did Delores get to the position she held where she is a world traveler…
It’s like the writing staff never watched the show and just started writing to the actors; “Ok, Tessa Thompson is going to be monstrous corporate bitch who hates her child for ruining her career!” “Well, um, actually she was consumed with communicating her love for the child at the point of imminent death, so,…
I would run across the street. Alone. But with malice in my heart. Scary.
I had a Polish employee try to teach me some words. Wasn’t happening. The language seems to come from so low in the throat and back of the tongue that a strictly English / Spanish speaker really can’t relate to the phonetics of it. Even a simple “Czesc” never came out correctly but I couldn’t tell what I was doing…
I think Geraldine is in the employ of the twelve and she killed her own brother for getting too close. It would explain his apparently relaxed stance of leaving his phone and strolling to the roof without fear.
This show has REALLY rebounded this season. Nico’s demise was incredibly well crafted and edited. Killing…
This season had SO many things wrong with it that you just can’t point them all out. I guess the thing to do is credit the acting talent and the CGI effects as being top notch. Everything else only had its moments at best and a lot was really amateurish shit, but it’s on HBO so it gets SO much slack.
On one hand you have Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick, and Christine Blasey Ford.. But on the other hand you have the U of VA, Duke University, and Chandra Levy cases. Too often these inflammatory threads simply refuse to let investigations happen or let the facts speak for themselves, and the writer ends up eating…
My point is, viewers know him as this average Joe kind of guy, so it further disrupted a terribly staged scene about Russian civil war. It was half-assed all the way around. And I agree, his performance as evil executive type doesn’t resonate either.
Kudos to Oh for apparently being quite cool with the other leads upstaging her in her own production. Villanelle and Carolyn are making the show at this point. The sooner they jettison Eve’s backstories the better (sorry Nico). That is time better spent developing this “Twelve” thing, which is somehow driving the plot…
In Moody’s defense I look at him as REacting out of feeling betrayed by his brother and Pearl. From his romantic perspective he seemed to have something real developing with Pearl. They’re hanging out, holding hands, talking wistfully about poetry, sharing hopes and dreams - then she just up and f**** his brother and…
That was strike three on “big” reveals. First, unleashing the data for a world in “chaos” has been a big miss since there has been virtually no production effort to portray that situation .
I have never watched a show that did such a good job of conflating protagonists and antagonists. A multiple points ALL of the characters elicited sympathy or admiration, then careened to being annoying or even downright hate-inspiring and cruel.
They’ll bring in the hack TV writers and turn out a dumpster fire like “Big Little Lies” Season 2 -and well just about like any min-series extension beyond the source material. “The Leftovers” is about the only one I can think off that was pretty good going forward. “Big Little Lies”, “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Westworld”…
Binging on this show now. The curious thing about this episode to me is how they bailed on obvious major scene opportunities; when Mia discovers Pearl sleeping over at Elena’s, and when Elena discovers Mia and Bebe working together at the restaurant. In both cases they just cut and went to the next day’s event like…
It would have made sense to develop a storyline that Delores created a small army of indestructible hosts to exacerbate the rioting, or that the “other side” created an army of indestructible hosts to infiltrate the cops to suppress said rioters. It could had a level of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” horror as…
This was a drastically underrated production. Zoe Kazan and Winona Ryder were perfectly cast and handled the roles with aplomb. The odd contrast was that the writing for the male characters was more ham-handed, seemingly out of that era of movies, compared to the women characters who seemed written out of a…
I just expect more out of an HBO production than lazy expository dialogue and background television. I feel like it’s being directed by someone who learned to direct by reading a Nikon camera manual. The writing seems like a committee effort that occasionally has characters and plot points randomly run in to each…
There’s hardly been any cogent dramatization of that situation. Knocking planters over on a plaza? A person running across an otherwise orderly street? The production is just cheap and lacking.
