Oh, I’m aware, it just doesn’t appeal to me is all. Timed combat... ick. But the jukebox idea is cool!

Agreed. As I’ve said many times before on this site, Control is just so much fun and dripping with atmosphere. I can’t wait for the first story DLC (not sure I need the horde mode or w/e they released) and frankly I just want more.

I do think the show could use some script work for cohesion, but I had few issues with the acting or the dialogue/general writing. And while it wasn’t Monster-of-the-Week style episodes, there were plenty in there for me.

I thought it was just me.

This is a fascinating take for me. I typically get stressed or bogged down by games because they feel like work, but Control didn’t do that for me *at all*. I think a lot had to do with the world—paranormal-y, urban-y, all very twisty and mystery filled. It made me want to spend time in the world and to explore it.

Yep, this is a good thing to call out. I really enjoyed Disco Elysium and also didn’t feel like I had to be an X-ist for it to make sense. Part of its strength is in providing lots of different sides to a conflict and letting you lean into whichever side you align with. I’m sure someone can give some write up about

You see deformed orphans begging on the street in the middle of the night in most capitalist countries all over the world?

16-year-old me would’ve bought these, realized what a terrible idea they were, shoved them in the back of his closet, and then tried them on at 2am one day, at which point I would’ve asked my mirror self what was wrong with me before going to bed listening to Pinkerton.

Yes, the weapon switching and the tiny UI/lag were the major reasons I put BL3 down soon after I picked it up. My issue is that I immediately remapped the weapon switching but then had to rely so much more on the menu, which was hard to read and laggy. I’ll check over the holiday break if they’ve since tweaked any of

I can’t speak for your friends, but i find a great irony in people who are suspicious about shows like Watchmen for their agenda but then go and gobble up Fox News and other Alt-Right News as their primary news source without ever questioning their agendas.

It was great to see Bob Benson on screen again, doing his signature mix of charming, conniving, and sleazy.

Yep. I think of it not unlike the Wilhelm scream and how ubiquitous it is in Western media.

I greatly, greatly miss the summoning (and being summoned). It made me realize that a large part of what I liked about Souls games was the asymmetrical community and the getting-through-the-dark-together vibe. If From keeps making Sekiro-type games then I think that’ll be it for me; it was beautiful and had a ton of

God, I remember this opening (and the music) 19 years later. It really was exceptional, and me and my buddy who were playing it together as teenagers totally got that even if we couldn’t articulate it at the time.

This seems like a reductive way of thinking and ultimately means no one can ever improve on anything, ever, which isn’t true. It’ll come down to whether or not the team has something unique and interesting to say within the Bioshock world, as opposed to simply aping the previous games and their sentiments. I’m rooting

There was a fair amount of dialogue, so it’s likely you had an audio issue somewhere in the mix (no pun intended).

I get what you’re saying and don’t necessarily disagree. That said, I look at Control on this list and smile—I’m pretty sure it’s the most fun I’ve had with a game in a long time, both from a gameplay and worldbuilding perspective. As someone who struggles to find time to play games, it’s rare that I finish a game and

Not very cool of your friend not to get your consent for being on camera. It’s one thing if you want to be a exhibitionist, but if you’re going to have people at your house while the cameras are rolling, you need to tell them ahead of time.

I wish Kotaku would do less video content in general and put in the extra effort needed to turn it into text. I don’t want to have to pop in headphones while I’m reading on article while waiting for coffee or during a lull at work.

Stadia is a bit of a head scratcher to me, and I was at Google for 10 years, including several years with Google Fiber. Considering how Fiber was trying to solve the very real connectivity issues in the US, how they’ve yet to succeed, and how Stadia seems at least in part on them (or someone) having succeeded, I’m
