Man, I’ve been there. Now that I’ve hit the 30s, I try not to drink more than a couple beers per show so that I can remember it AND not spend half the show in the pisser.

I like that song. Gonna have to go through that record.
That would have been a crazy show to see. I think the only one I knew about at all back in 2008 was Tom Gabel since I knew about Against Me! Did they play together or was it separate shows?
Yeah, they mostly seem like a good bunch of people from what I gather. I’m sure they’d fill the bigger arenas in the bigger towns if they could, but I’m glad they play at the places they do so I can see them relatively easily. It blew my mind to see how many big names in the scene play at places like the Mule Barn in…
No doubt. I’m happy to talk about his music to anyone who wants to listen.
Southeastern is his best writing, but he really stripped the sound back for the record and I feel like his singing voice is a little different on several of the songs. I like their live versions better pretty much across the board, so if you haven’t, pull up some live recordings of those songs on YouTube.
I 100% get what you’re saying. The type of music that we listen to, artists do generally start out more raw (I think that’s the best term for it) because they can’t afford to be polished, so they must have something that draws you in, and when that starts to change, you notice.
I didn’t get into the genre as a whole until a couple years ago, but I agree that Dances For the Lonely is when they started stringing together a few more quality songs per album, though I still enjoy a few of the older tunes.
AA was pretty inconsistent in their early years, but I think they’ve been killing it lately and the new band is probably going to be better than the old one. It’s kinda random, but I wish they’d re-record Dances For the Lonely the way they play the songs now. Anyway, I enjoy your posts on DUAN, so thought I’d throw my…
Inspired me to do a similar list. A few artist overlaps. Mine skews more Americana/southern rock than TXRD.
Cool song from The Story
The Cure - The Walk (Everything Mix)

“Jimmy was cutting every link between himself and the robbery, but it had nothing to do with me. I gave Jimmy the tip and he gave me some Christmas money. From then on I kept my mouth shut. I knew Jimmy, he had the cash. It was his. I know he kicked some money upstairs to Paulie, but that was it. It made him sick to…
Ireland’s great Bluesman, Rory Gallagher.
This one always cheers me up:
great one. the indomitable Chris Stapleton!
This is footage of Chris performing this song at his acoustic show that I was fortunate enough to attend. I love the crazy reverb stuff that he does at the end.
Blow Up the Outside World
Hoping everyone’s families are safe in Mexico, including mine.
