Sorry but they are not, i'm european, i'm using small capacity diesel every day, there is lot of rules which you have to obey if don't want to spend thousands to fix it.

Modern european turbo diesels are very fragile, you have to let them cool down after any faster ride and also common rail system isn't very reliable , and then there is dpf filter which is just annoying.
