It’s been almost three decades that I moved from Germany to the US, so things may have changed in a way I haven’t registered in the years since. But back then, Germany was very particular about type certification. That froze specs in place - and doing anything akin to tuning that had impact on one of the certified

It should be chargeable as pre-meditated murder. Any vehicle collisions caused by DUI should be chargeable as attempted murder.

So you say since 2005 but then say his license was revoked in 2015. Which one is it?

It’s a fairly simple solution: any death caused by DUI should be charged as murder and have the appropriate sentence.

I know. Cities are finally realizing that catering to cars is a losing bet.  Good for NYC.

head coach of Michigan State University’s football team for a salary of $9.5 million per year. In contrast, Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, receives an annual salary of $159,300"

yes they do, and here’s why: the risk they pose to other road users is minimal, and the risk that drivers cause to everyone else is very large.

Sometimes what they do that looks illegal and dangerous is calculated to minimize other risks. For example it’s often way better to blow a light to get away from a traffic

Nobody said anything about the cyclist getting a pass.  The other guy being at fault doesn’t give you the right to hit-and-run.

When you hit someone with your car, you fucking stop and at the very least see if they’re ok. Regardless of who’s at fault.

His fault. Totally.

Fuck off. “Personal Responsibility” is the magician’s handwaving that corporations do to distract people like you from their own culpability.

Guns and cars are completely fucking different. A gun is not a tool. You can’t repair your car’s engine with a gun. You can’t install a kitchen faucet with a gun. The singular

well, they did modify the car from what the owner requested which resulted in a higher speed at time of crash. I suspect that if that corner could be taken at 85 but not 112 the % assigned to Tesla would be much higher. Since it couldn’t be proven it mattered they gave it a token amount of blame.

There’s always two sides to the story and we really don’t hear much of the dealership management’s side other than customers may have been blocked from entering.

We really should create a memorial of all the bland, boilerplate faux-apologies that people like this give, when they get caught using language they’re so used to in casual conversation, that they feel okay using it on a public livestream without their friends even reacting much. Every single apology reads the same...

Which proves they are shitty bikes (with a nice design), a bike model needs to be available in at least 3 sizes. Get a Gazelle, that’s a proper Dutch bike.

It’s so backwards. Anyone with a job like pilot should be required to be in therapy. And the therapist should be allowed to ground them at anytime, with no penalty to the pilot or career. really, this should be true for every job out there, but starting with pilots and doctors and stuff would be something

Honestly, it’s a good rule! If you go sideways off track, it’d easy for your tires to dig in. Even if I could fudge the test, I don’t think I’d want to

Because you are walking around with an unique face. So if you commit a crime they can recognize you by your mug. Which is actually even worse than license plates based on how many people are wrongly arrested or convicted based on other people “recognizing” them or picking them from lineups or even automatic face

You think you have privacy on a public road? Without that iniquity identifier, the roads would be more chaotic.

I mean I hate license plates and love the fourth amendment as much as anyone but I’m not sure your car has a right to privacy on public roads...I guess you’re saying that you have the right to not be identified as the owner of the car via the license plate but that’s not any more of a privacy violation than being
