You forgot Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast, for that brief period around 2002-2003 when the French went “You know, the Afghanistan thing makes sense, but we’re not quite sold on Iraq.” and the whole country decided that anything “French” - fries, toast, cheese, wine, baguettes, omelets du fromage, the Dixie Chicks, etc

“I think they think they’re in high school. We’re in Congress.”

My nan genuinely cancelled Christmas one year.

Hey, Maria - thanks for organizing these each week. I really look forward to the threads.

Problem is, Kirk Cameron wouldn’t CARE what JackRabbit’s floor looks like. He would likely embrace one or both of the following two views: 1) it’s their own fault, they didn’t pray hard enough for God to save them and/or 2) they get to die and meet Jesus soon, and that’s good!

I was so annoyed when Olaf showed up. I wish it had been Sven instead. I wish the Christmas Fireplace for Home on (Canadian) Netflix, Birchwood Edition, was longer - it is my favourite so far. I really appreciate the way the birch burns and goes up in flames compared to the Classic Edition.

What do you get the woman who has everything? My grandmother used to smoke a lot, so for Christmas one year I got her a carton of Kent 100s.  My parents were not pleased.

As a Canadian, I gotta say, there is certainly bewilderment. And a few other things. Like, a lot of other things.

My best friend is a front line worker and should be getting it very soon... if she doesn’t test positive for COVID because she just found out she was exposed.  Like really? You made it THIS far?

I have no doubt in my mind that White House staff and other people working high up in other government departments are/were among the actual first people to receive vaccines and probably still will-even with Trump’s denial. I have a feeling it just wasn’t supposed to be publicized because they want the narrative out

And pity.

Turd face.

It may have been the case. Unfortunately he moved away the next year so I’ll never know 🤷🏾‍♀️

I mean, yes? But as a New Englander, I gotta say...we NEED eight zillion jackets and mittens and scarves.

It has been a little over two years since it was legalized here in Canada. I had to look that up, because it turned out to be one hell of a non-event. The Conversation and The Guardian featured these bookends:
