That friggin funny! HAHAHAHA
That friggin funny! HAHAHAHA
A lot of the 4.3l, 5.7l and 6.2l GM’s and 6.9l Fords where I grew up were also turned into bio-diesel or on veggie oil. The problem with farm diesel was that it was high sulfur and would eat up seals.
I’m sure that Ford was selling dually 4x4's in the 80's. It’s just rare to see one with the 6.9l diesel. You either had the farmer that bought the 7.5l 460 V8, or the telephone company that bought them with the 4.9l 300 I6.
I don’t disagree with you on the Chevy/GMC being a better long haul vehicle of the 80's and early 90's.... it was a much more comfortable ride. My dad had a 92 GMC heavy half, extended cab, long box, automatic, 4x4 with the 6.2l. You put a skid loader on the trailer and the 0-60 time was measured in miles. (You also…
Didn’t Ford have a little extension bracket that they added to the end of the mirror? I remember seeing a few of those out there when I was a kid.
The 6.9l was unfortunately the best choice of the day. Better then the GM 6.2l, and long before Dodge had the 5.9l Cummins. However, I’ve driven the 6.9l, and it was a dog. Not that the motor was a bad motor, it was the long geared 4 and 5 speed manual transmissions that really held the engine back.
I’d say that the difference in fishtailing and torque steer is controllability. Torque steer happens every time you give it 60% or more throttle. The first couple of times you have torque steer on an interstate ramp, it’s kind of fun. After about a week, torque steer gets to be annoying. A couple of months you really s…
When I owned my 08 GP GXP, there was only 3 sets of matching tires for the car. One was the stock Bridgestone’s, Kumho’s and Hankooks. You couldn’t rotate the tires because of the staggered size, and you couldn’t even move the tires from left to right because they were directional. So... alignements were very…
I had an 08 Grand Prix GXP. The torque steer was bad. It was also the “displacement on demand” generation of the 5.3l that is well known to start drinking oil around 50,000 to 60,000 miles. Also, no external trans cooler (outside of the tank in the radiator), so the transmission is also well documented to be toast…
If I remember right, the reason GM did the 5.3l FWD in late 2005 did this was to compete with the new Hemi in the 300/Charger. The effort by GM obviously fell way short of their goal.
I had the 5.3l V8, 4 speed FWD in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP that I purchased in 2010. What a terrible car. The Displacement on Demand 5.3l’s were quite disappointing... mine starting using a quart of oil every 700-1000 miles before 60,000 miles. Shortly after that, the transmission started having issues of not…
Back in the mid-2000's, I was doing exactly this. I had a deal worked out with a local Chrysler / Dodge dealership that I was purchasing 2 year old Intrepid’s and Concorde’s with 150,000. They were insurance adjuster cars that were always on the move. Every single one of 10+ of them that I bought from this dealer was…
It hasn’t been the fast ones that scared me, it was the unsafe ones. (or unsafe situations).
The GM W-Body (Grand Prix Turbo, Regal Gran Sport, Lumina Z-34) and E-Bodies (Toronado, Trofeo, Riviera, Eldorado and Reatta).
It should be noted this era of 3.8l’s had tons of head gasket issues. I had a 93 Taurus 3.8 EFI with head gasket issues and have known many people with Thunderbirds, Taurus, and Mustangs that have had the same issue. It’s also not an easy job. Ford loved to bolt EVERYTHING to the heads back in the day. While it is…
The brewery (Defiance Brewing) is pretty good in Hays too. They do a seasonal IPA called “Awesomeness” in the fall.
“Cadillac on Wednesday told its 880 U.S. dealers that they will need to invest at least $200,000 each on electric vehicle chargers, tooling and training to continue selling the brand’s vehicles beyond 2022.”
I totally agree. The 5.0l 307 V-8 Olds was a solid motor. My parents had one in an 84 Riv. It was kind of a pooch off the line, passing gear was laughable, but it would hold 80 mph all day long.
I think doing a modern restomod of a Chalet would be awesome. 6.0l or 8.1l EFI, 6 speed manual, electronic high/low 4x4 transfer case, 3.73's. :)
I have no problems with factory specials. GM made a good living off of these over the years. Some of them were pretty cool.
