Makes me think of my ‘91 S-10 EL. EL stood for Economy Leader, IIRC. They actually took stuff OFF the standard S-10 to make it even cheaper. My particular truck had three luxury options: Tinted windows, a rear bumper (!!!), and rally wheels. That’s it. No radio. Rubber floor. Vinyl seats. Objectively, with the Iron

That’s usually the case, but there were more than a couple of the restomods that sold for amounts that made me question whether I could build them for less than that price. If you were good with fiberglass and had an Art Morrison catalog, I think you could turn a profit early 60's Vettes all day long.

I completely get this. I had an old muscle car for 15 years. Built not bought and all of that macho bullshit. It validated me as a “true car guy.” Except that it was hot and smelly. It didn’t really drive all that well. The family wouldn’t ride in it because it didn’t have AC. I didn’t like leaving it unattended in

Is that the David Stacy Gearz build?

I drive a Hellcat and read Jalopnik. Every other week it’s something.

Time well tell, but I’m not too worried. FCA puts the Hellcats through the same durability tests as any other vehicle. I think it far more likely that Big Government outlaws IC engines long before my Hellcat needs an engine rebuild.

The thing about modern muscle cars like the Hellcat is that even though they have 700+ horsepower, they’re pussycats to drive.

I convinced my wife to watch LeMans one evening. She’s not exactly a gearhead, but she’s tolerant of my interests. As the credits rolled, I asked her what she thought. She replied,

Seems like it would be easier just to get rid of the kid than the table?

The Trinity Study is often quoted as a 4% safe withdrawal rate. So I would suggest ignoring income all together and focusing on expenses. Total up your expected expenses, taxes, etc. If you have 25x that amount in retirement savings, you’re theoretically all set.

They need a U.S. presence. Don’t forget two Dodges. Open wheel Hellcats with Vin Diesel as the team manager. God bless America.

Don’t forget that those evil, conservative rich people are also the ones with all the guns. Be careful starting your little revolution. Be a shame to see anybody get hurt.

My experience is strictly anecdotal, but at the beginner and junior levels, I’d say there’s a fair representation of young women. But time, money, interests, and yes, social pressures see that participation level dwindle as the kids get older.

First, I will freely acknowledge women’s ability to compete with men when it comes to racing. Hell, I’ve been beaten enough by women in racing to know that.

So, maybe even an all-girl karting series.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the GM Heritage Center. That’s their big warehouse full of cars that they own. Gorgeous examples of just about everything from brass era cars, big fin 50's cars, muscle cars, prototypes - the works. It’s an amazing place. In amongst the CERV prototypes, the immaculate old 442s,

Sun King is great. Love their cream ale.

Some of you bitching about Matchett, Hobbs, Diffey, and Buxton are going to feel pretty silly about 5 minutes in to the Alan Bestwick/Eddie Cheever ESPN broadcast.

I don’t know, but that 66 year old lesbian talking about Clarkson’s twat virus was pretty funny. They should put her on the show.

“There’s also the issue of that dumb-ass scoop perched precariously on the engine cover. Hello trashcan!”
