I always thought it would be nice if the credits within the films also mentioned the key pieces of inspiration for the movies' stories.

I think "Batman: Year One" is still easily the most influential Batman story of the modern age, and holds remarkably up well today, especially for a superhero origin story.
I know; I just meant that the only variable was the timeframe for his return rather than if it would happen at all.
