Depends on where you are.  More northern climates would have to rely on conifers, which are not good climbers - they need horizontal space as well.  (But the needle structure of fir and spruce does make an excellent sound baffle).

They aren’t ideal, that’s for sure. The best combination I’ve seen is a combination of an earthen berm that rises to about the roof level of a 2 story house, and then a noise barrier on top of that. The berm seems to absorb a lot of the sound, and even a block away, the remaining noise isn’t too bad.

Kia does something similar with the Sportage, with the signals down on the bumper - it’s an awful design - it often means that you can overlook the signal of the car as you come up to it because one expects the signal to be at the same level as the brake light/marker lights.

    Tentative NP:

Well, I’m not sure which is dumber: the idiot who put the washing machine on the hood of their car, or the officer who let them off with a “warning”.

    Hard CP for me.

I agree.  CTO, yes; CEO - Hell No!

Again, another reason why Musk is the wrong person to lead Tesla. He has a role to play, but having him at the helm continues to highlight his failings as a leader. Now we can add intemperance to the list of issues.

Seems to me there’s a pretty big difference between something built for the track (as you show above), and something built for street and the occasional track day. You’d have to show me some pretty convincing physics that there’s a benefit to that wing. (and I have serious doubts about whether the car in question

Lovely build overall ... except for the fugly wing on the back.  I don’t care what you’re doing with the car, those wings make zero sense ... and they’re incredibly ugly.

I gave it a NP because at $3200, it’s not so much money that finding a few problems is going to be a big surprise.

Mine was a 1970 Datsun 1200. The body was good, the interior passable (hell - I was a teenager - I couldn’t afford much anyhow).

It is precisely the mentality that people are a “burden” or an “expense” to be managed that demonstrates why I think capitalism in general is in its dying stages. The idea that somehow people are a “business problem” to be “solved” is both profoundly disrespectful to the people who work in these environments, but it

    Nope ... nope ... nope.

$10.9K??? Yeah no. Way too much green for one. At that point I’d be much more inclined to look at a used Porsche of similar vintage ... or I start looking around at things comparable to the 280ZX of a few days ago.

I agree with you on the fact that cars have gotten bulkier looking, and the lines of the late 70s - early 80s cars were much simpler.

CP - not worth nearly $4k, IMO. I might consider paying $2K (ish) given its age.

I’ll give Kia this much: They’ve come a long ways from their origins as a crappier Hyundai. I actually know people who have ten year old Kia Rios that are still driving just fine today with nothing beyond normal maintenance.

If you can find one ... still ...

I’ll give it NP ... not because I particularly like the price - that seems a little steep.
