Well, for the context of this map I think it does make sense. They currently do hold substantial territory and have borders which are disputed. Granted, 100% of their territory is disputed, but the fact that they have military control of their territory means its worth listing.

You’re too late.

They hold territory, levy taxes, provide basic civil services, and conduct international commerce. Sounds like a state to me (again, one we should destroy).

He’s missing a good one — Egypt & Sudan’s disputes over the Hala’ib Triangle (claimed by both) and Bir Tawil, which is technically claimed by neither, making it the only unclaimed land (terra nullius) in the world, outside of Antarctica.

Nice to see that all the U.S.’s ones are relatively minor.

The scary thing is the population concentrations around bodies of water combined with the risks posed by poor infrastructure (which the author points out) and climate change. I wonder if we’ll see a rise in casualties caused by natural disasters in the coming decades.

It is crazy to think that Southern California has a higher property value than Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas combined.
