It was more like the steering developed a detent in a position just off center that it would stick in.  Just enough that it wouldn’t self-center. Someone who worked for an OEM steering rack manufacturer (claimed) called it “stick/slip” IIRC. Something about the balls in the mechanism and imprecise machining.

Freddie won 250 and 500cc championships in 1985. Just unbelievable. He never won another GP after that. Whether physical or mental, he just wasn’t the same.

I put 33k-ish miles on an ‘11 Volt. Any loss of range was outside my ability to measure. The only problem I had with it was a sticky charge port door and a weird click in the steering rack (that they replaced w/o issue). Amazing when you consider how much new development was packed into that car.

Oh yeah, they were desperate. It’s shocking to me that the status quo lasted so long.

Sure, but I’m struggling to see how it becomes an on-going problem unless everyone also suddenly starts driving more.  Imagining a truly widespread problem, people will drive less, right?  I don’t want go find myself unable to get gas far from home.

Fair enough, but I own 6 cars and don’t really have anywhere to go. How long did the shortages last?  Unless everyone also starts driving more, there’s a hit, then...what?  I can wait it out.

A manager at Sterling Heights Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram told federal investigators that Nimo sold about 250 cars in January 2020.

How much gas can you panic buy?  I have two 5 gallon cans.

My friend took his first ride on his new mountain bike yesterday. He ordered it last October. If you ordered one now, you’ll get in in 2022.

My neighbor just had a Tesla Solar roof installed. They didn’t make and crazy claims but part of their value proposition, such as it is, was that IF you need a new roof anyway, it’s not THAT much more. Of course it is that much more but he sounded happy. *shrug*

Heh. I have two ‘local’ dealers. One has 27 Taycans in stock. One is blue, the rest are as you describe. The other has 18 but a little actual variety. Carmine Red, Neptune Blue, Chalk (OK, a gray tone but still stands out IMHO), Cherry Metallic, Gentian Blue, and Coffee Beige (!!).

You know all the kids talk about you behind your back, right?  :)

The color is pretty cool. Totally random non-car people have commented on it.

lol. Is emacs even installed by default on anything? It’s not on the centOS systems I use.

That does give me a sad. Tesla offered my friend 22 in trade for his P85+ on a new 3. They’re not expensive.

Yeah, he deserves a medal.

This dude doesn’t even rise to rounding error in the world of YT views. Less than 6k people watched the Torch interview. A 20-something re-paints a squishy and gets 10M views.

I learned to drive in an ‘84 Chevy Celebrity with the Iron Duke. I don’t recall it being called a “Tech IV“ but it did have fuel injection. Silver/red. Bucket seats that didn’t recline. The 3sp transmission at least had a locking converter. It got pretty good gas milage as a result - I recall calculating 38 on one

Nice!

Schwinn is not a bike manufacturer anymore. A big company called Dorel Industries will sell you a bike with a Schwinn sticker on it though, so you’re technically correct (the best kind of correct!).
