I’ve been there! It...is...awesome.

For a long time, I viewed PhD as a guarantee of incompetence. I’ve since meant some truly gifted ones but it’s hard letting go of the stigma left by their predecessors.

On my motorcycle, I used to pretend I couldn’t find my insurance card. Give them something else to ticket.

I usually say something vague like “um, I have some idea....”. But you have to read the situation. I’ve also gone with “Oh man, I blew it. Just wasn’t paying attention to my speed - only the road. Totally deserve this!” Being a middle-aged-white-guy probably does not hurt either.

*shrug* Click on the link.

I think the EB is a nice package but 12.9@103 with drag radials is not comparable to 12.9@110 with stock tires. 7mph is a huge gap. Guys are apparently running low 11s with tires and the usual bolt-ons with the GT.

Esprit engines are very stout. The transaxles less so (but fine in the 4cyl cars).

There’s no reason to fear these cars. The electrics are primarily Delco. I had a ‘95 S4s for about 6 years and it was a great car that I still miss. I had a nice custom exhaust, slightly altered cam timing (more low rpm torque, these things being relative), and eventually put the last version V8 wheels on it. Sure,

My dad had a ‘94 MR2 Turbo that I volunteered to do the head gasket on. So many cascading to-remove-this-remove-that-first parts. IIRC, the shop told me book labor was 14hr. They were so happy when I told them I decided to do it myself.

Lots of mid-engine Ferraris are like that. The bearing and slave are a single unit (they call it a clutch release bearing). Book labor is 12hr on a 360.

Of course, your typical Italian can’t actually afford either one. Average household income is 1/2 of the United States.

Has anyone bothered to look up employment and budget history at the EPA before posting?

Turns out there was an article on Jalopnik about the 54->40 thing:

He means that the “54 mpg” everyone talks about translates to about “40mpg” on the window sticker. 54 is the raw test score.

Exactly. And you can be sure that the automakers don’t really want to “kill any regulation that undermines American auto production” because that would lower the barrier of entry and they would have a host of new, agile competitors to deal with.

Indeed. In 2010 there were (nearly) zero sales of cars with plugs. In 2017 sales will exceed 1 million worldwide.

Go get approved at a local credit union for a 36-60 month car loan. They’ll confirm how much per month ACCORDING TO YOUR CREDIT REPORT PAYMENTS you can afford, and the total dollar amount they’ll approve.

360s are good past 100k for sure, although it’s not a cheap trip to get there.
