There is no propeller. I'm not sure you could use that type of propulsion at these speeds. Cavitation would rip any propeller to shreds. The Spirit of Australia, and all the other contenders for the title, are pure jet boats that are propelled by thrust only.

It must be a "waterborne craft" as determined by the Union Internationale Motonautique, and those folks are pretty fussy about their boats. I doubt you could get away with any ground-effect shenanigans.
