+1 for notepad++

@Kraft: i agree, please, no more 'show me your junk' posts, especially in the life hacker 'top' RSS feed. seriously, this is making me consider to unsubscribe over this. it boring, sucks to view on google reader, and really it is not helping me hack-my-life.

Please take the 'show us your ...' series out of the 'Top RSS Feed'. It was cute the first time, but now its getting a little old, and is really not 'top'.

To the people who are saying Google-presentations is not very good, I would argue to give it some time. Their word and spreadsheet applications took a while to mature, and they have now come a long way.

Lately I've been using Allway Sync for backing up... I doesn't use any proprietary file formats, and essentially compares files and syncs the folder you choose to wherever you want (portable hard-drive, network drive, etc). The software is free. The advantage for me is that the software just copies new/changed files

I agree with Kubota about peoples backs... how about a 'show us your bag' featuring people who aren't either hyper-organized and/or dragging around a portable office.

shogunro.... having been a long time web-based mail user, gmail is pretty darn reliable. Sure, on rare occasions it will be chunky, but compared to yahoo, etc., it does really well.

I would recommend looking at some of Edward Tufte's books on presentation of graphical data.

@phoenix: I guess I am just ahead of my time.

It is too bad this isn't working with Thunderbird 2. Considering the theme was released after the TB2 release, it is sort of odd

I remember a day, long ago, when I used wordperfect 5.1 (or some name like that), and everything was key stroke driven. in fact, this was back in the pre-mouse days.

There is a lot of discussion out there about which is worse... cloth diapers use a lot of water/ energy for washing and drying.

I just noticed today that Adobe 7 Pro has a pdf organizer that doesn't seem too horrible... you can list 'favorite places', etc. Additionally there is a 'collections' feature that lets you group pdf files without actually changing the file location.

I agree with Bill, there are some great youtube videos. Just search for 'line rider'

I always have a bit of mixed feelings regarding DRM issues. To some extent downloading music from questionable sources (e.g. Allof MP3, Bit Torrent) is stealing, regardless if you feel that music is too expensive, you think the Russain setup is a valid work-around, etc. But at the same time I feel like the DRM

I'm going to throw it out there, but this life-hacker... and these keyboard short cuts are fairly bland, and are stardard throughout the entire microsoft world.

people still use ask.com?

I am a long time google-reader user. I really like the new interface, in particular the left side folders view where you can see what is new, etc. The one thing I do not like about the new reader is that when you go the their goolge.reader page now, you have to click on 'All items' before you can start going through

sweet jumping moses, a lot of you are carrying around a ton of shit... my back is spasming just reading what people are carry. Did I read that someone carries a spare power-brick and a spare battery!!! There is being prepared, and then there are dislocated shoulders.

I've used foxit in the past, but like a couple of previous posters, have had troubles with some graphics not showing up correctly. Considering that I have a pretty big library of scienctific papers as PDFs, this can get to be tiresome.
