There's an awesome medical museum on the Island of Sardinia that is full of 19th century wax anatomical models - beautiful and gross

I think Victorians were fascinated with the science, but they couldn’t “neutralize” the subject they were studying by posing her differently. They had to make her otherwise appealing (pose, neckless etc). It could be there was no concept that science had to be clinical and cold, and that you had to beautify what was…
That top image honestly made me gag, lol. Where’s the ‘see less of this’ button?
Even dissected, she has pearls to clutch. That’s class.
I guess the Victorians were seriously obsessed with death, or maybe this is vintage snuff porn? I read a couple of Baudelaire poems about how sexy a decapitated woman was and fucking carved out orifices on a woman who was “too happy” (unless my French is off but that’s essentially the gist of what I read).
Sad that Anatomical Venus reinforces patriarchal body expectations by waxing her vagina.
I’ll defer to Jia, who gave an excellent description of those people in her post on bullying today.
What do you think the venn diagram between these def-con four mouthbreathers who send death threats and actual fans of the offended party looks like ?
I’ll kill anyone who stars or responds to this comment.
The theocratic GOP who encourage violence via fraudulent videos and incendiary language need to be treated and classified as contrary to the constitution and enemies of democracy.
Remember that whole “they hate us for our freedom?” Yeah, that’s what’s actually happening here. If fear of violence dissuades people from doing or speaking about abortion, their violence is working and is curtailing our freedom.
Horvath-Cosper has the support of many abortion doctors.
The overuse of “Hitler” also popped into my head while reading this, as well as “Nazi” and “fascist.”
The power dynamics are totally off when you compare Rachel Roy to Monica Lewinsky.
One of the biggest issues with social media is that it fosters this idea that everything you think is worthy of being shared. Yes people are allowed to have different opinions but if your opinion is factually incorrect than no you’re objectively wrong. Period.
“How DARE you make me feel uncomfortable, black people!”
I as a white person feel uncomfortable if anyone *but* black folk use either form of the conjugation. I feel white folk are not entitled to it. (We feel entitled to too much already.)
Looking forward to Tina Fey saying “Hillary, you did it, c*nt!” next year!
