I feel like people always overshared their thoughts...it’s just that they now have the tools to broadcast their thoughts more efficiently.

tbf she mentions the beyhive. She noted that Roy wasn’t being bullied by the beyhive bc Roy is more powerful than its members (not sure if I 100% agree since the beyhive is so huge), and she also did not say that Beyonce was being bullied.
Fascist is a big one. Socialist and communist as well. Pretty much any political term has been abused by talking heads in media. The trend obviously transcends political alignment, economic philosophy, etc., but seems most egregious in political discourse.
This is a much more analytical take on the Dawson v. News Genius controversy than Sam Biddle’s.
I also had a qualm about the power issue. In some cases it’s very subjective and hard to assess. Rachel Roy may have more money, and there’s power for sure in that, but quantity can be power in and of itself. In the case of Ella Dawson, I think it was problematic that the managing editor of Genius itself started…
Yeah, I understand Trump hits the right notes with the poor white communities in the United States, but how could anyone stomach supporting a candidate who collects so many racist, xenophobic, sexist, Islamophobic assholes like Trump? I know some Trump supporters in my home state, and I was honestly surprised because…
I agree that selective service should be abolished, but since we’re keeping it, I think we should make it universal until such time that we can abolish the draft.
If you’re a conscientious objector, there are alternatives to military service:
Something tells me no one mistakes Alito for Scalia...
I take your point, but France is also a presidential system with a powerful chief executive elected by the people. They have a shorter campaign in part because of strict laws on campaigning (spending caps, ban on TV ads). I think Mexico has a similar electoral system when it comes to its president.
All for thorough vetting, but we’ve been able to do that in previous elections in shorter timeframes. These days it’s just more entertainment, at least on the GOP side. At this rate, we’ll start presidential primary campaigns during the mid-terms.
Yeah, that’s exactly what she said...
So this is how I imagine the two most despised people in government and business are going to run for the WH:
Aw, no need to be mean to the old lady!
+1 clean roll of toilet paper for you
Your great aunt is a brilliant poet!
I remember traveling in Europe where some countries still charged for use of toilets at train stations and such. :(
What you are implying here is bad. First you are implying that women and minorities don’t vote because it is too hard (harder than for white men, I guess).
Of course, there are many factors at play. But we need people to go to the polls and vote, and our system makes it pretty damn hard especially for women of color.
Srsly, you become a pundit AFTER you’ve served, not the other way around!
