What I’ve been playing:
What I’ve been playing:
I was going to get The Caligula Effect: Overdose, but then I realized I didn’t want to waste time churning through yet another just-average JRPG when I’ve got a whole bunch of other games on the go. I love the aesthetic, but I want some more engrossing experiences nowadays.
I’m about 20-25 puzzles in and loving it. I’ve got to stop playing it as my bedtime game and play it earlier in the day when I’m more alert, because I need my full cognitive capacity for it.
I prefer controllers for 2D platformers and M+KB for 3D platformers. The reason M+KB works better for 3D platformers is because it allows you to adjust the camera as you’re jumping; you can’t do that as easily on a controller, because your thumb controls both jumping and the camera.
I played A Hat in Time on PC, and I actually preferred it with mouse and keyboard to playing with a controller. Contrast that with Yooka-Laylee, which also came out that year and didn’t have full M+KB support; menus didn’t have keyboard prompts.
This inspiring me to start a new video game-related Twitter account, Can You Flush The Toilet?
I’m still playing Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. I’m now on the 6th floor, clearing out Monstro. Hopefully the boss in this dungeon isn’t too tough. I haven’t fully gotten the hang of dealing with high-level cards. My impulse is to button-mash, but one needs to carefully execute combos (while dodging, which is…
The Switch is a great device for indie gaming in bed. It’s how I played through Marble It Up!, The Missing, and Gris.
If you mess around with the chips the right way, you can make yourself basically invincible by endgame. Some of the ones that heal you are ludicrously OP.
In fairness, they went on hiatus for over a decade and only reunited a few years ago.
Cool, call me when Arcade Fire reaches the “Win Butler actually learns how to sing” phase of their career.
No snark, he’s a good actor. I don’t know how wide his range is, but I can imagine him doing well in this role.
That new Fury track is pretty rad. I’ll definitely check out the album when it drops!
I’m playing Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, which is an interesting set of ideas in principle, but super-frustrating in practice. Selecting the right card in battle is never easy, using combos has penalties too severe, and there just aren’t enough save points. I don’t want to be obligated to be sucked into…
I beat the first Kingdom Hearts. It’s not great!
-chef’s kiss-
I’ve only played the demo, but I too found the game to be a mess of contradictions. There are puzzles that require group coordination, implying that the game is best played with friends. But there are so many segments when coordination is unnecessary, and all the Fort Tarsis segments suggest the missions are best…
Still playing through the first Kingdom Hearts. I’m at the point just before the final boss rush. I’m only at level 51, so it might be a good idea to revisit past worlds and grind a bit, but I’m totally ready for the game to just be over.
No worries, happens to the best of us. :)
I was replying to Danette’s comment about Whiskey Cavalier.
