I think the biggest story of this year has been the resurgence of Japanese games. In addition to the games you mentioned, Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, and Nioh were all very well received.

I still think they launched too early. If they'd launched in the fall with Splatoon 2, Arms, and Mario + Rabbids in addition to Breath of the Wild, then the launch lineup might not have looked so threadbare.
