I was going to read it, to see what the hype was about, but couldn’t even get past an excerpt.

I did try to read the first book. It was so bad I gave up, and now I think everything associated with it is absurd. So many of my friends loved the series, and I think it's about as sexy as an ice cold shower in public.

Exactly! I can usually get over weird baby names, but I can’t stand names that don’t flow/are awkward to see. And York Banks Asla has a flow factor of about 1. Even York Asla Banks would be better. Separates the K sounds more.
