I grew up when all these diseases were rampant. Polio was still around too, but I got my first dose of vaccine in second grade. They were awful illnesses. Why any parent would want to risk their child potentially having any of them if it can be prevented, is beyond me.

And before anyone brings up the fact that some of the people who were affected were vaccinated: 1)vaccines like the MMR vaccine aren't 100% effective but are damn near close and 2) they would've never gotten measles if those who weren't vaccinated were initially vaccinated. That's what herd immunity is.
