Eh, but anime doesn’t really have the best public image in the US. Lots of people see it as stupid or perverted, and think that bottom of the barrel nerds with no social skills like anime. Other mediums don’t have the same stigma. If you say a movie is based off of an anime, that would actually discourage audiences.

For real, it’s why I hate the “we need a super famous person as the lead!” argument. I can’t think of any celebrities who currently have the kind of star power to bring people in on their name alone. Maybe you can draw in a few fangirls with Tom Hiddelston or Benedict Cumberbatch, but that’s still not enough for a

For real. They’re not recognizable to most people (who may actually be turned off from seeing the movie after hearing it’s adapted from an anime. Anime doesn’t have great image in the US) and they often get changed so much that fans of the original aren’t interested. Plus they’re usually just not very good.

Maybe he’ll do it for treats. Works for my dog.

I love mermaids, my interpretation of them is that they’re badass. (you have to be to live in the ocean!) But harpies would be so cool!

Professional mermaids do things like photoshoots and commercials, and things like pool parties.

Eh, in all fairness, the issue isn’t just getting jobs, it’s getting jobs that pay a decent wage. I would imagine that coal mining pays more than any retail job.

Shit, if I had that kind of money, I’d build my own zoo. And a cetacean sanctuary, with an underwater tunnel that goes in the ocean, and a totally bitchin’ education center, and lots of research would be done there.

That would make a great Disney animated film.

Agreed, I think LGBT is one of those issues where he chooses his position based on what’s popular.

Yeah, girls grow up constantly being told that they’ll be mommies one day, they’re often encouraged to play house and play with baby dolls, boys don’t get that same kind of treatment. So I think women end up having a better idea about what childcare/housework entails, and even men who try to do 50% of the work end up

I’ve lived my whole life in a few different parts of Texas, parts with large or majority Hispanic populations. Selena has a rare type of legacy, people talk about her as if she’s still alive, that says a lot about her.

Saying that these people don’t need public programming or the arts just plays into the stereotype that poor people are stupid and ignorant and uncultured. People who live in rural areas don’t have as much access to culture and arts, and PBS makes those things accessible. The argument I’m hearing is that these people

I had a dream where I was passing by such a camp and it was full of hot guys and I was all like “Hey, you’re a bunch of hot guys in this small space” and they were all like “omg you’re right” and then they had an orgy. I took my glider and flew off into the sunset, looking for more people to help.

I’d wager that “fun hair” just means “different” and I guess that gives people license to mess with it. People messed with my hair a lot in elementary school. Looking back, I can see it was because my long blonde hair stood out a bit in the Hispanic majority area I lived in. I hear a lot of black people have had

Traveling in packs has the added bonus of increasing the chance of a successful hunt.

If I were to create a line of makeup, I’d call it War Paint.

I can understand why some ladies go the “ugly” route, but for the reasons you say, I go the “pretty” route. The asshole guys want me but I won’t let them have me, and it makes me feel like I have some sort of power.

Idea: makeup line inspired by poison dart frogs. I’d go for that.

The whole “TLK ripped off Kimba!” thing drives me nuts. There are some visual similarities, but beyond that, the two works are totally different. (fun fact: Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Kimba, was heavily influenced by Disney. So I guess it kind of circled around with the art there, ha ha)
