The only reason they’re able to put DS on a pedestal is because most people’s experiences with DS folks are with the higher-functioning ones. DS is sort of on a spectrum, some of them can live pretty much normally, while others need a lot of lifelong care and supervision. The average person has only met DS people who

My parents didn’t get cable because they didn’t want us vegging out in front of the TV. But since they didn’t take me out to get books very often, I just ended up watching Maury and other shit TV. So. Much. Maury. They wanted me to go outside and hang out with friends and stuff, but I was in a suburb with no public

Ha ha, for real. In school, I always hated when the teacher decided the class should take turns reading a story out loud. I mean, at least with a book on tape, the narrator has good reading skills. But it’s so frustrating to have to listen to it by people who struggle to read even words that are spelled phonetically.

When you make a kid movie, you aren’t just trying to appeal to the kids, you also want the parents to be able to like or tolerate it enough to be willing to take their kids. Talk shows prefer to bring on known celebrities, they likely wouldn’t bring on someone like Tara Strong or Tom Kenny, but they would bring Justin

I love my Kindle, but trying to browse ebooks is such a pain in the ass. Plus, certain types of books aren’t available much on a regular Kindle, like drawing books and animal guides.

I buy almost entirely used books. On Amazon, a lot of books are available used for as low as one cent.

Yeah. And notice that B&N these days sells a ton of gift items, not just books. Half Price Books has actually been pretty successful, largely because they’re able to offer competitive prices that other bookstores can’t.

Depends on the types of books you buy. Usually the books that are less than $5 are the self-published stuff.

True, but there’s no monetary reason for a digital copy to cost just as much as, or more than, a physical copy.

Agreed. I love my Kindle (the regular kind) so much, but I don’t use it as often as I’d like because it’s usually cheaper to buy a physical copy. I know that printing and such is only a small portion of the cost of a physical book, but there’s no reason for ebooks to have an equal or greater price.

I’ve read every entry at least twice. It’s great, I really wish the creator could find more episodes to do. (Disney never released all of their episodes on home media, and only a handful could be found online)

I love that blog.

Part of it is that big celebrities can more easily get on talk shows and the like to promote the film.

... I did this when I was a kid. When I was young, there were hardly any female minifigs. I had a bunch of Hermoines from my many Harry Potter sets. So I’d mix around heads and bodies and hairs and hats. Had a lot of chicks with short hair, but I made do. Kids these days have it so good. You know now you can just

Exactly. Barbie doesn’t dominate the market like she used to, and Mattel has to do something new to stay on top. Barbie has already had just about every career and hobby, so it’s not like cranking out some new outfits and accessories will work. Adding new body types does three things...

Neville sure got hot. I never saw that coming.

Very well-said.

I’ve always been able to read very fast. I’ve been wondering lately if that’s because I read a lot as a hobby, or if I was just like, naturally like that. I mean, there are plenty of people who read a lot too, but still took much longer to finish classtime reading than I did.

Ha ha, I always hated reading-aloud time in school. At least with quiet reading, I could finish my shit quickly and then sit and draw, or read the book I brought with me. But if the teacher was making everyone take turns to read aloud? I had to read along to ensure I was staying in place. And you’d be surprised how

This was such a problem when I was a kid. Any book I got from the bookstore or library was finished right away. I didn’t get to go to the library very often and we didn’t have cable TV, so I was often left with nothing to do. I don’t mind finishing books fast, but it is a pain when you don’t have quick and easy access
