My “world history” class was pretty obsessed with WWII and the Holocaust. We spent like, two months on it. I think part of it is because the war is seen as more black and white, America is definitely a good guy, lets gloss over anything bad they do in this era cause they’re fighting Hitler.

My high school “world history” class pretty much only taught about ancient Egypt, then nothing but Europe.

... Dawn should totally use that as a marketing slogan.

There’s a group of students at my school always using them. I don’t really get the appeal, but it doesn’t bother me.

I have a cat named Tara. She’s really crazy. We let her go outside because she turns into a monster if you don’t let her.

Time Warner owns Cartoon Network. Anyway, if the products were unlicensed they probably would’ve gone after her by now. Big companies don’t take kindly to people using their stuff, ESPECIALLY if this is a popular business that makes a lot of money.

... If you’re too young to run a business, why the hell are you running a business?

“69 with Me” would make more sense.

Ugh, agreed. If you’re too young to run a company, don’t try to run a company!

I know it’s common to accuse a network or studio of being out of ideas every time a reboot or sequel is announced... But I think Nick really is out of ideas. In the animation department, they’ve been in a huge slump the past few years even as other networks have put out all of these successful animated shows. Nick

Stuff animals, you say? Think my Murderwhale here would work as a carpool buddy?

Oh, totally. And the different types of cancers would require different types of cures. It’s a pet peeve of mine when people say “cure cancer”, but I used it as an example cause it’s so common.

The general public doesn’t understand scientific research. A study that might seem silly can provide information that can be applied to other, bigger things, and can help us solve real problems. It’s why I hate when people go “WHY ARE SCIENTISTS RESEARCHING THIS WHEN THEY COULD BE LOOKING FOR A CURE FOR CANCER?!”.

Yeah, this is my issue with people supporting total anonymity. The father has the right to privacy, but why don’t kids have the right to know who their biological parents are? Still, I am concerned that if the rule causes too short of a supply, women will turn to other sources where the kid will still end up never

In my high school, at least, we spent SO MUCH time learning about WWII and the Holocaust. Assuming that’s normal for US high schools, I think it creates the impression that the Holocaust was by far the worst thing to ever happen in the world and nothing else even comes close. It doesn’t really help that other parts of

Dude, my Texas middle and high school history classes spent SO MUCH time on WWII! I used to think it’s because the Holocaust is such a big deal, but now I realize it’s probably cause WWII is seen as our “good war”. I remember thinking how odd it was that we’d spend like, 2-3 months on WWII while completely skipping

Agreed. As another commenter pointed out, the part about religion could be reworded to make a point about the kind of presence it was in the lives of slaves. Just as slave owners used Christianity to justify their slavery, the slaves themselves used it to argue against slavery.

Agreed. Plus, you get the added bonus of making a point about how slaves did try to get control over their situation. Oppressed groups in societies, even if they seem to completely accept their lot in life, still look for agency, and sometimes look for ways to move up. Even when it’s just little things, little

THIS. Slavery is slavery, even if the slave is treated “well”. In the end, the slave has no choice or freedom or control. The owner can still treat the slave however he wants. It’s almost like being treated like a child for your entire life, someone else has complete control of you. This person can give you certain

I think the new rule was made looking at things from the kid’s point of view. Do kids have the right to know who their biological family members are, and if so, does it trump the anonymity rights of said members?
