I read somewhere else this morning that Google is now apparently treating Inbox like a testing ground for Gmail. So it sounds like they’re keeping it around (for now) and will be adding new features to it before moving them to Gmail once they’ve proven to be successful.

Well, “explain” may have been a bit strong of a word :)
