In terms of having a break up soundtrack, the First Days of Spring by Noah and the Whale is an excellent, beautiful breakup album. It captures the emotional ups and downs beautifully.

John Green rocks. Looking for Alaska is my favourite of his books, it has a similar theme to Paper Towns in debunking the Dream Girl. Thanks for those suggestions too, I'm going to check out A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and A Separate Peace. Let me know if you come across any others.

There's lots of good advice in this thread, but I also second the recommendation for It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken. There's some good advice in there. My ex and I broke up and like other stories here, he had no plans whatsoever to keep in touch once the breaking up was done. I couldn't understand it, since

Yeah, go with a fun wig as well as a natural one. Lavender sounds lovely! I'm sorry to hear that you had to have surgery and that the biopsy results weren't what you were hoping for. The surgery is stressful and traumatic enough without needing chemo as well. I had surgery to remove a giant ovarian tumor a few years

I struggle with my family labelling me as 'lazy'. My sister would frequently say it when I was growing up and I definitely internalised that over the years. One day, I was talking about how lazy I was and my flatmate said 'but you're not a lazy person!' - I didn't question it before! despite being fairly active and

I'm sorry to hear your parents are being that way. I had a similar situation with my parents when I first went to university and put on weight because of the change in lifestyle/starting drinking/not being educated about healthier eating and taking it for granted that I would always be skinny. They have warped values

Thanks for your reply - there's lots of promising suggestions there! I will be checking bimatoprost, the castor oil and the megatek out. I haven't tried biotin but have ruled it out as I heard it can cause skin to break out - and my acne prone skin does not need to be encouraged to do that. You're right about iron too

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, hope the supplements work!

My sister has an entirely different hair type to me, which I think she got from my mom's side - it's far thicker and fuller than mine and I don't think she'll ever experience the same problems as me. I definitely have inherited my fine hair from my dad's side, who all seem to have thinning hair. Which is kind of

I'm really sorry to hear that, that really sucks. I find that it's most noticeable to ourselves because we see our hair in the mirror every day, others don't seem to notice it if that's helpful at all. Good luck and I hope you find something that helps.

Haha, oh dear I'll need to pee all the time then - yasmin makes me pee more often as it is! I just got an appointment with the dermatologist today for two weeks time. I'm expecting that they will prescribe me spiro too. I'm hoping they'll be more thorough with the investigation than the last derma was and won't

That's awesome that you got follicular transplants - how did you find a specialist and would you mind me asking how much they cost? I would love to get them at some point but even just starting to look into it casually gets overwhelming in terms of places offering it and prices.

Thanks for your reply. I have bought Toppik before and used it too - it does work very well - though I think the one I bought was a bit too dark for my highlighted hair (highlights also helps hair look less fine, apparently). I think I will try it again in a lighter version. I've also been hoping that I will some day

Thank you - I have looked this up thanks to your suggestion and it looks very promising - going into town to buy a supplement of it now, feeling hopeful about it!

Thanks for your reply, I'm sorry to hear about your problems with thinning hair too - it's just so frustrating. Have you had a look at the replies from others? There's been some very good suggestions, some which I already use (Rogaine) and some which I haven't but will give a try. Good luck, I hope it gets better for

PCOS really sucks, doesn't it. I'm sorry that you have it too. It's on a funny part of the spectrum where it causes really annoying problems like acne but that aren't considered that 'serious' so doesn't warrant that much sympathy from doctors (in my experience). But you're right about looking on the bright side, I

Thanks for your message, I appreciate the love. Unfortunately there is a genetic link - but that doesn't mean you'll definitely get it, and I hope you don't, it does suck. I also use the men's version of Rogaine - in fact, the pharmacist refused to sell it to me the other day since I'm a girl so I had to get my

Thanks for your reply! I have been referred to a dermatologist by my doctor so I think they will put me on spironolactone when I eventually (it takes ages over here) see them. I'm a bit worried about the side effects of spirolactone, did you notice any yourself?

Thank you for your reply - I will definitely check Biosil out, it seems worth a try!
