The comic in that sketch is obviously a nod to Louis C.K. and perhaps Aziz Ansari. I did not think about this guy til he brought it up.

Did you read this article? None of the behaviors described here were remotely attractive. They were manipulative and gross.

Because the whole pickup artist concept is to treat women as sex dolls that you can unlock with a secret code, not individuals that you can have an honest relationship with (even a relationship that lasts fifteen minutes and is purely based on mutual sexual attraction can be honest).

It’s definitely an objectifying/commodifying mindset. The woman is a puzzle to be solved—a riddle to be answered—rather than a person.

It is an absolutely disgusting mindset, and one you are rightfully skeeved out by.

It’s implied in the condescending tone of “normalizing casual sex” coupled with isolating men as the ones who are going to “maximize their rate of said sex.”

It’s comes across as “well if we only normalized committed, monogamous sex, men wouldn’t act this way”, which kinda just places the responsibility on the women.
