As a recovering hop head, Black Butte Porter was my gateway drug to the dark side. Left Hand Milk Stout and Thin Mints is the best food pairing I've ever come across.

It's a goldilocks beer—the sweet spot between not enough and too much. Boulevard Pale is that that way for me. I can get it anywhere in KC and know it will hit the spot without scouring the tap handles or beer list. And sometimes it's even on sale.
Most liquor stores and micro bars in Kansas City carry it.
I'm a big fan of Deschutes and generally alternate between Inversion IPA and Black Butte Porter. All of their other IPAs (especially Hop Henge and Fresh Squeezed) are excellent.
Get yourself a Two Jokers or Ginger-Lemon Radler while you can. I've yet to have better "Summer Sunday on the Patio" beers.
