That's the way things work for Windows Phone 7 as well. Micro$oft has a tough, and seemingly arbitrary, submission approval process. That requirement is what has prevented me from putting much effort into a couple of WP7 apps I have in mind. If the Windows 8 app store works the same way, most individuals and small

I think this post might have overwhelmed Belkin's web server. :)

I got it running on VMware Workstation running on a Windows 7 host. I had to upgrade to VMware WS 8 though. Prior do that upgrade, Win8 gave me the new BSOD. I saw somewhere, I think it might have been here, where someone called it something like the "sky-blue screen of sadness".

That screen looks like they're running in a VMware VM, probably Workstation 7. When I tried to install Win8 on Workstation 7, I got that exact same screen. I upgraded to Workstation 8 and it installed flawlessly. Of course, running such a graphically rich OS in a VM leaves a lot to be desired. After I play with it

Scott Hanselman did a write up on how to install Win8 Preview on a VHD and boot from it.

What virtualization software were you using? I had the same problem with VMware Workstation 7. After upgrading to VMware Workstation 8 it works like a charm. A little sluggish in the VM but it works. I'm simply not comfortable risking my only machine by trying to dual boot it.

I had to upgrade to VMware workstation 8 to get it to work. I'm unsure of the details, but apparently Win8 relies on some hardware feature that isn't emulated by workstation 7.

Downloading it right now. It's supposed to run on any hardware than can run Win7, so I'll stick it on a VMWare Workstation VM to play with it.

I'll probably wait until it's time to do a clean install on my system before I switch to an SSD. With any luck, my system will remain stable and reasonably performant until Windows 8 comes out and I'll make leap to SSD and Win8 at the same time since any machine that runs Win7 will also run Win8 (according to todays

I wonder if it'll run in a VM?

Everyone should know how to choose a nicely marbled rib eye steak and grill it to a proper medium-rare.

I have a rather extensive battery backup system to keep my amateur radio station up and running. I can operate the radio station for approximately 30 hours at a 25% duty cycle (transmitting 25% of the time listening the rest). As far as computers go, UPS's get me through short outages. If for some odd reason I

Unless you're stuck with a contract or for some other reason can't/won't switch to a carrier that has WP7 phones available, what I don't understand is why go to the trouble of imitating the Metro UI on an Android? All you're doing is shoehorning a visual design that will not provide the full Metro functionality.

As the others have said, it all depends on your needs. I print very infrequently but when I do print I want it to work. I chose a B&W laser printer. The advantage to me is that the toner doesn't go bad. Back when I used inkjets, it seemed like every time I wanted to print something I had to purchase new ink

My ideal workspace would be an office with a lockable door so that I could spend my lunch break taking a nap.

This is probably just nit-picking, but sometimes nits really get under ones skin. When you talk about the older AM based system vs the newer VHF system you're mixing apples and oranges. AM stands for Amplitude Modulation. It's a transmission mode that has absolutely nothing to do with frequency. VHF refers to a

Deadites are actually a much easier breed of undead to deal with. All you gotta do is remember the words.

I wouldn't even trust any plastic freezer bag to hold up to even the most delicate cycle. I think you'd be very likely to end up with the food spilled out into the washing machine.

When I was in physical therapy after ACL reconstruction, some of the exercises we did were in an indoor pool. The rehab folks kept a dozen tennis balls in the pool at all times and changed them out two or three times a day depending on how many patients had pool sessions. If your pool time was near the time when

Not really. The word "murder" has a set definition. According to dictionary.com murder is defined as, "the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or
