Subaru transmissions always take a dump. The wrx 5 speed, the SVX automatic, this abomination, etc

What this WRX owner wants: A WRX with an engine that isn’t 10 years behind the competition.
I wish we could get these. I need a replacement family wagon that isn’t a luxury car or some lifted and plastic-clad offroad wannabe, and the only option is the VW Sportwagen. I don’t even need the STI although that would be fun.
I would love a Levorg STi. It looks good, is fast, and most of all as a dad, it does both of those things while being PRACTICAL. If it came at a good price I think it’d be a winner since you have to spend way more to get something fast and practical. Not to mention it would only be SUV’s anyway.
i would totally buy this or a wrx hatch, if they offered a new one. My outback is getting old and ill be wanting a new (to me) car in the next couple of years. This is such an obvious own goal on the part of Subee and i just dont get it.
I agree with your last point. I actually switch off my traction control in the snow for exactly this reason. I have full winter tires, and sometimes, you need a touch of wheelspin to pull out in to traffic.
That would be interesting to see a video like that about the different Subaru ones. I know Engineering Explained did one, but I can only handle so much white board...
that honestly explained a lot I had taken for granted as knowledge. these guys are great and deserve a follow.
I've never understood these freight fees to begin with. Seems so weird to pass along to the consumer. It's one thing if I buy direct and the vehicle is delivered to me or a drop-off point, like online shipping. But if I go to a dealer, which they require me to do, the items has already been shipped. I don't pay Best…
Happy birthday! Have some cake!
Dear Harley,
I will happily contribute to this trend when I get the wagons I want (That I can afford new). Else, I will have to settle for whatever comes in the used market with my $30K ish budget.
Eighties cars sucked too. Soooo many vacuum lines.
Exactly. I love the volvo’s but i dont want to spend quite that much money. It should be possible to get a new WRX hatch. Im old - my STI days are behind me ithink but the WRX is just right. I live in the PNW and have a big dog and am always in the mountains. Im right in Subaru’s wheelhouse.
I always LOVED the look of the wrx/sti Hatchback, Yet when it was still available, EVERYONE hated on the hatch. I don’t understand why, its more usable if you want to haul slightly larger things.
My 2013 WRB WRX 5 door was totalled in March. In April I found a 2014 WRB STI 5 door driven by a 50+ year old couple. 35K miles. No mods. Had been in a fender bender but was repaired. Had an inspection done with a killer detailed report. Flew cross country and drove it from CA back to the Midwest. Essentially I found…
I would buy a new WRX hatch pretty much immediately. My outback is 10 years old and getting pricier to maintain and i love Subee AWD and always want to have a wagon or hatch to throw my dog and all my random crap into easily.
Shopping for a new car now. Just test drove an STI and loved the car...much better than the last generation I drove. However, I will not buy one because I don’t want a sedan. I want a hatch.
My 2011 wagon got totaled during Harvey. I still have the insurance money sitting in the bank because it’s near impossible to find a wagon that hasn’t been modified by some flatbilled vaping dudebro and I just can’t bring myself to buy the new sedans. I’m a car guy, love sports cars, and I’ve been tooling around in a…
....on another note, why does Subaru have such a great impression of reliability and yet they cannot for the life of them build a reliable turbo engine OR an N/A flat four that will go 100k - consistently - without needing a new head gasket.
