Paddington walks around with no clothes under his raincoat, I’m sure HW views him as a kindred spirit not a possible target.
In addition to LazyLemming’s great advice, I would also add: do everything in your power to get your own ducks in a row. I know it’s easier said than done, and sometimes it’s not even possible to get everything you need (since our whole system is fucked), but if there is anything you can do for your own healthcare…
Shit, I didn’t even think about Paddington! Please tell me he didn’t grope the bear too.
The Paper Towel King is now doing a 180 on PR. Saying that the people are wonderful and commits to helping them now. Nicole Wallace on MSNBC referenced the Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/abandoning-puerto-rico-would-be-an-impeachable-offense/2017/10/12/a1014552-af87-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story…
You raise such a valid point about lack of assistance from Washington. Puerto Ricana will be moving to the mainland (NY, FL) given family ties. Also, what do we call people who are displaced within country since they technically are not refugees.
Thank you for this article. I was wondering how states were preparing for the influx of refugees from PR since it’s obvious the Federal government isn’t going to do anything.
Far be it from me to tell any refugee where they should settle, and obviously they should take whatever is best for their lives, but I REALLY hope that a good amount of them find homes in swing states and districts.
Truth. It’s unfortunate that even within the LGBT community, we managed to create a microcosm of the prejudices and oppression outside-the men oppress the women, white folks oppress Black ones, cis folks alternately ignore and crap on trans folks, and we all ignore and erase Bi/Pan folks.
I mean, let’s be honest, tho: He’s worked on LG topics. If B or T got in there, it’s just due to the overlap between LG, B, T, and especially the HIV/AIDS work he’s done. I’m not saying that disqualifies him from telling this story in an effective and fair way, just that I don’t think he’s as credentialed in telling…
Wait - the CHILD had a different hand made princess dress every day, or the grandmother and the child did?
My sister had her only child at age 41, a beautiful, gorgeous child who’s now a teen. For a year or so, she lived as a boy, radically changing her affect, her clothes, her hair, and her name.
A few months back the gallery across the road from my office hosted an exhibition that featured “creepy” dolls. Boyfriend and I were having a drink at the bar next door, and while we were sitting outside an idiot with a man-bun came up to our table with the explicit purpose of telling me that I looked like the dolls…
NOPE. This is just... nope. Nopenopenopenopenope.
We took a trip to Disneyworld some years ago, and there was an older woman with a daughter/granddaughter around ten years old staying at the same hotel. Every single day the girl had an accurate replica of one of the princess’s dresses, and she wore it all day around the various parks. I heard the woman telling her…
Nope, it’s genuinely sincere. The wife also grew up in another country and moved to the US to marry my friend, so I hope the expression just might be a feeling that she’s trying to convey that is a bit lost in translation. She’s overall a lovely person, just grew up sheltered in a very traditional, conservative…
Luckily my friend (the dad) is the type that loves playing guitars and decorating things with skulls. So while the baby wears pink and girly things, she also has a few band shirts and she wears sporty shoes (chucks and adidas). Her parents kinda balance each other out and influence each other too so I’m hoping she…
Man, I have a weird relationship with dolls. They fascinate me, I can look at them for looong periods of time, but they also repulse me and freak me out a bit too. It’s so strange to be drawn to something that makes your skin crawl. I guess that says a lot more about me, then it does dolls.
