I suspect indifference... mostly because I find that people rarely seem to look ahead to see what various taxes and fees are with any decision. When the model 3's released lots of people who drove economy cars got sticker shock when they learned how much their insurance was going up. 

Elon’s waaaaay to the right of garden-variety Republicans now. Plus, he only cares about what’s good for Elon, not party politics.

I think we should install overhead power on rural highways/county routes and pantographs on cars. Then you only have to use your batteries for the last (dozen) mile.

Except that even at Costco, it takes a few minutes to go from 0 - 100%. These guys are waiting an hour for 3 cars to get to 80%

The thing is, most drivers who are not EV first adopters and EV fans don’t want a car that means they have to go hang out at a hipster bakery for twenty minutes if they cannot fill up at home or need to refuel on a journey. That is part of the whole lifestyle experience thing that first adopters and fans love, but

No different than the line for gas at the local Costco. Except the people in the Costco line can go across the street to a station with no lines. But they’d rather sit for an hour to save .09 cents a gallon because their time is obviously worth $1.50 an hour.

This is why it isn’t about range, but charging time. 20 minutes is 15 minutes too long. Get it down to 5 minutes to a full charge, i.e. gas fuelling times, and the problem is solved. That is the edge the electric car needs to be the future.

So Zhao is saying that Brand quoted him 989k and he said ‘no prob’. I’m no Jessica Fletcher but this sounds like hooey.
