I agree about Index Funds, I’m dubious about investing entirely in the U.S.-heavy S&P 500. I strongly suspect a globally diverse portfolio will give both lower risk and higher rewards over the next forty years.

I don’t think there’s cause for concern. Most robo-advisors aren’t doing anything particularly novel or risky, they’re just automatically implementing the same basic advice a financial planner would give you. They’re a completely different animal from Wall Street computerized systems that are trying to beat the market.
I’d rather have frozen (ideally by me, but pre-frozen is fine too) Hatch chiles than fresh Poblanos.
Article II, Section 3 says the President must “From time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” It’s just a tradition that this take the form of an annual in-person address. Writing an email…
This is exactly why I have three savings funds: retirement, an emergency fund, and a “fun savings” fund for vacations, holidays, or big but unnecessary purchases.
An index fund is probably the best way to build wealth, but once you have the money and want to earn a steady income from it (i.e. during retirement) dividend based investing starts to make sense.
The US may be the technology hub of the world, it is very much not the infrastructure hub of the world, nor the consumer protection hub of the world. Internet rates in the US, both wired and wireless, are expensive and slow by the standards of the rest of the first world.
I’d argue all that you need to know to start investing is “Buy Vanguard target date retirement fund shares.” I’m not saying that’s necessarily the best investment strategy, but it’s a very solid investment strategy that’s very easy.
Trying to survive all out nuclear war is futile, but good preparation could potentially save you from the sort of limited-scale nuclear attack North Korea could launch (assuming you’re not right at ground zero).
In many cases, the same problem can be solved with a brief period of deep work instead of continuous shallow work, e.g. dealing with email once per day instead of checking it continuously.
It’s a way of saying “not made from the leftover bits of chicken after all the recognizable cuts have been removed”.
I’d take SF’s admittedly sometimes garish houses over the sea of beige mandated by an HOA any day.
Pretty sure there’s a max size for rides in the workshop.
Planet Coaster doesn’t really have mods, unless you count sharing stuff built in-game as a “mod”. It’s supposedly theoretically possible to add original meshes to the game, but it’s enough of a pain that I haven’t seen anyone actually do it yet.
You’re probably thinking the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter which, while pretty clearly inspired by the Alien/Aliens franchise, wasn’t officially based on it.
A ride that large and detailed will tank the framerate of a pretty hefty gaming machine even on a flat screen. Sadly, VR support isn’t a possibly in the near future. The best we can hope for is 360 video export.
My strategy, taught to me by my boss when I did a museum curation internship:
I think it just comes down to whether the goal of your vacation is to maximize great experiences, or to relax. I suspect you’ll be in a better mood immediately after returning to work if you take the day off at home, but in five years, you’re not gonna remember that day, but would have remembered an extra day in…
They’ve said it’s not in the cards, at least in the near future, because very, very few computers could run a reasonably sized park at acceptable frame rate and resolution.
It sounds like you’ve thought it through, but in case you didn’t know: after age 65, you can withdraw money from an HSA for any reason without penalty, though it is treated as taxable income (basically, you can treat it like a standard IRA).
