I think it depends on the school district’s cutoff date too, to a certain extent. There was one poor kid at my school who was born right before the cutoff date and THEN skipped a grade, so by the time we graduated he was 2-3 years younger than some people.

Don’t you remember that Trump meme during the election? “Sheriff stars” are six sided too!

Tbh, because it’s six sided w/ points (and possibly bc it’s attached to this article), a Star of David was the first thing that came to my mind. And the colors are switched, but the general grey-and-yellow color palette really didn’t help.

I really think you’re underestimating the amount of racism in this country, both the overt and the subtler systemic kinds.

The idea that we don’t want Mexicans here because they’re poor/brown/from another place is disingenuous

I mean, do you recognize that our current immigration system is inhumane and discriminatory towards people of certain skin tones? What do you consider “secure”?

I love how that font turns a regular tabloid splash piece into a subdued, intimate profile, probably based on an interview that was conducted while drinking fair trade coffee on a white refurbished couch in some Manhattan loft. I could see Mario Lopez introducing his dogs to the reporter with the exposed brick wall

Honestly surprised she didn’t go with post-it notes!

I had a friend who was like that, and on the one hand I could just shut up and deal because she could be an incredibly loyal and generous friend, but on the other hand she said some pretty shitty stuff to/about some other friends of mine. She didn’t get mad when you called her out (kind of pissy sometimes, usually

The first time I remember getting in serious trouble was when a cousin & I decided to throw baby powder all over a hallway and go “skating.” We must have been 3 or so.

My brother likes to think he’s a feminist, and I think he wants to be one, but he also refuses to believe me and my mother when we point out blatant examples of sexism. That’s usually also when he yells that we’re the ones getting irrational and over-emotional.

We had juuuuust enough cloud cover to let you see the partial eclipse without the glasses (w/ them you couldn’t even see the sun, because clouds). I only took a couple glances, but it was dope.

I think everyone’s hair plays a role too - period pieces seem to have a harder time with hair than with clothing. Even when it’s “accurate,” it’s usually the period’s style via whenever the movie was made.

I would argue that “economic nationalism” is almost certainly “racism” under a slightly off-white sheet.

There used to be a Nabisco factory in our area, but the sweet sweet scent of those freshly made Oreos was always kind of killed by the gas fumes from the 12-lane highway you had to drive on to go past it.

I do hope none of the nazi fuckwits have doppelgangers. Twins are one thing, evil twins who plaster “your” face all over a goddamn KKK rally are quite another.

My parents spent a lot of time and effort trying to coax me into treatment during my bad phases as a teen (which sometimes included not getting up except for the bathroom), and the long and the short of it was that I refused to go for a very long time.

As someone who spent most of their teens in a depressed haze, it’s possible that the parents have been trying everything they can think of. Texture was pretty much the only reason my hair never matted like that, and my parents were worried sick the entire time.
