PA had a very Bernie-esque candidate running in the democratic senate primary, and he got zero support from the Sanders camp. Zip.

I’m hoping they take the opportunity to confront the shitty racism and make him a fully-fleshed out character. There’s a chance to go really meta and critique how he (and the black characters) got treated by both Gabaldon and the white characters.

People have described the racism/rapeyness as very “of its time” (meaning when she wrote the book, not 1765), and it’s true that things were a lot more racist/homophobic/etc. back then, but we’re still talking 1993 here. That level of racism still seems blatantly not kosher.

Condolences to your poor boobs for getting hit like that, ouch.

It’s probably the circus, but that seems kind of repetitive after they did a carnival?

Just going by geography, Afghanistan and the Arabian peninsula are on opposite sides of Iran (nevermind the gulf). Iran is a big country.

I feel like the elephant in the room is “What about Yi Tien Cho?”

A kid would poop in our community pool at least once a summer. Kids: they poop.

My impression of TV writing is that breaking down the script (aka. figuring out the story beats, making sure character arcs are consistent) is a collaborative process, but the pitch and the actual writing are individual. Dunno how that plays into this specific workshop, though.

I will have coherent and appreciative thoughts later, but for now:

Ahaha, I didn’t start dating until post-college, and the feeling of “well, at least I can act like an adult from the start” shifted to “FUCK everyone got their cringey early dating shit out of their systems in high school except me,” REAL fast.

That boy is awful, but I’m glad his housemates were nice?

(I think that’s the joke?)

The closest I got was insisting that the friend I had a crush on wasn’t ugly after he made some self-deprecating comment about his appearance. He leaned on my locker and said “Is there something you’d like to tell me?” and the motherfucking smirk on his face while he said it has haunted me ever since.

This feels oddly appropriate for Teen Week?

Many colleges have a nasty way of “encouraging” victims to keep incidents within the school’s disciplinary system, as a way to keep things quiet/keep statistics down.

College or right afterwards was when my classmates started dying. Car accident, suicide, one (rumored) overdose, two freak accidents, cancer.

Our band teacher would give you a “permanent pass” to go there and work/practice if you had study hall, so allllllll the geeky music kids went there. I was never a full music kid, but some of my friends were so that’s where we went.
