This was probably the last of the “cultural vegetables” shows before the media got so fractured that no one cares anymore about watching/defining the “it” tv shows anymore.
But that’s when movies succeed, when the viewer gets caught up in the story and doesn’t just see it as an amusing way to kill 2 hours.
Fire the player? Suspend maybe, NHLPA doesn’t let you “fire” players.

I don’t know about any of that, but I distinctly remember seeing the Dark Knight Rises and being blown away by what a dour drag it was. Just a totally unpleasant 3 hours. Then Zach Snyder took that and doubled down on it until it became unmarketable.

I honestly wonder in this era of Peak TV/content any show will have a lasting legacy. Seems nearly impossible to even become culturally relevant, let alone develop a long lasting influence.
